Yeah looking at the price point on a lot of these "better" jack stands, making a pretty large dent into the cost of a quickjack system. If you have the space and can work some OT or save a little more, why wouldnt you just get the quickjack?

Wonder what im going to buy at HF with my recall money. Heard their ladders are affordable 😂

I have Esco. They are $67 per on Amazon. Cheap investment for my life and safety.

Having a jack stand fail is my absolute worst fear.

I have a set of Big Red 3 ton stands I’ve owned for over 10 years and used countless times. I’m considering replacing for peace of mind, due to age.

Are the Esco stand top of the line? Any other brands to consider?

I have the Esco ones. Who cares if they are $250, they are the best and most trustworthy I've found outside of a lift. I used to hate getting under the car and now I really don't mind. People spend many times that on mods but want to cheap out on such a safety critical item, makes no sense.

^I've had those thoughts on Harbor Freight. I've got the 3 ton HD part number 62392 that doesn't seem to be affected but not feeling great about them. Of course I always put rims underneath the car as well when I'm working under my jacks. Even when working under my quick jack i still put rims or jacks underneath.

... I feel like it goes without saying that you shouldn’t trust your life to a harbor freight product?

Thanks for this post. Had a set of these in the garage that were just refunded at my local H.Freight.The settlement had I been crushed to death could of been pretty nice for the family but you can't win them all I guess.

my 335i is standing on those at the moment waiting for parts :/ As I understand they will give you a HF gift card, not refund, right?

Thanks for posting these. I have since upgraded to a set of Esco ones, but use the HF ones to hold stuff (steering rack, subframe, etc.) while the Esco ones support the car. Looks like mine are the 61196 model. Debating whether I should take them back, I don't really use them for load bearing purposes anymore.

For anyone debating on buying the Esco ones, got for it! $250 is 100% worth it, I feel super confident going under the car now.

I have the old orange 3 ton ones purchased 10 years ago (~2010). Guess they're not included in this recall? But man, this makes me lose so much confidence in those jack stands... might need to buy a new one or finally get the quickjack

This looks like the best price on a pair of "better" style stands. Esso is great, but $65 each stand is a bit much. There's another of this style from Torin, "Big Red," but it's a littlemore money, looks the same: There's Sunex as well, but they're as pricey as Esso.

The ECS Schwaben brand (looks like Sunex made) for under $100:

DO IT. They are awesome and let me focus on the work at hand instead of worrying about the stands. Got rid of my harbor freight ones (and all of similar style).
