My windshield has a small crack so I'd be interested if it's not outrageously priced.

  • Gorilla Glass windshield: lighter & stronger (fishing for interest)

A few cars (e.g. GT3, 720S) have Gorilla Glass windshields, and at least one company is making aftermarket ones for other cars. They can be made lighter and stronger than traditional windshields.

The E46 M3 should have this option as well. These cars tend to live long lives and see real usage, so there's a significant chance that a lot of us will need windshields at some point as ours get sandblasted/chipped/cracked. Pretty confident I'm not the only one who could and would shell out a few more hundos for an option that's both lighter and stronger.

From the company's perspective, the business case is even better for the fact that the E46 M3 shares a windshield with non-M coupes and convertibles. I'm sure some of those folks would go for it as well.

If you agree, please post here. I'm not affiliated and have no contacts with Corning or any other relevant party, but if there's enough interest, maybe we can get their attention.
