Synchro Whine After Rogue SSK Install

I recently installed the Rogue Engineering Octane SSK along with a new selector rod joint and rear carrier bushing. Since the install I’ve been getting noticeable synchro whine all gears but mostly in 2nd and 3rd. I changed the transmission fluid (Redline MT 75W-80) to see if it would help, but the noise is still there

For those of y’all running the rogue SSK, have you run into synchro noise after installing the Rogue SSK or after changing fluids? Curious if this is an alignment issue with the carrier/bushing or if the Rogue kit just transmits more noise.

    A syncro can't whine

      Exactly.

OP: synchro doesn't rotate by itself and has no bearing, so it can't whine. But it can cause grinding noise during engaging the gears if the clutch is not total disengaged.

When exactly the moment during shifting/driving that you hear the noise?

Appreciate the clarifications. It’s probably not a “whine” from the synchros specifically, but more of a droning or wind-up noise. It happens right as I engage the gear and persists maybe for a couple tenths of second or so after the gear is engaged —maybe as the input and output shafts are matching speeds. The sound is definitely more noticeable at higher RPMs. When the stock shifter was installed, did not hear this noise come through

He is getting gear whine from the transmission. This happens when you install a shifter assembly with poly/spherical joints and a solid metal shift lever. The factory shift lever is filled with rubber to dampen NVH and the pivot ball is plastic rather than metal.

Agreed. Just sounds like gearbox noise going into the cabin through the new shifter.
Transmission noise is great, I'd keep it like that

Agreed. Some new cars have various exhaust modes, I wish they could put in a straight cut gear box and have a switch to quiet it down when the wife is in the car.
              Old, not obsolete.

I fondly remember a couple of laps around Nogaro in a GT3 cup car. That straight cut gear whine, the brutal shifts that had me worrying the engine would be ripped out of the car. Those noises are so much fun if the car is not a daily driver.

After gears are engaged, the synchro finished its task and thereafter it's just a piece of dumb metal and makes no noise.

I think what you hear is the internal individual shift fork that pressing on the slider gear (which moved to engage the synchro teeth). Maybe the SSK is pushing/pulling on the shift rod even after shifting the gear.
