What’s up with the new floor mat build quality?

Ordered a set of OE BMW brand floor mats from bimmerworld. They just arrived and I’m so disappointed with the build quality compared to the ones I bought years ago. Is this seriously what BMW is doing now? Looks like it came from Walmart. They are already separating and I can’t imagine they will last long at all.

Ugh. Doesn't look too bad from 5 feet. Going to try restoring my old ones.

maaan, I'd hoped that the one batch I got a few years ago was just randomly dog shit for some random reason... they're bad enough for me to want to consider abandoning the OE look and see if there are nice enough aftermarket mats out there that I don't hate

I trashed my old ones after the entire backing material turned to dust. Is there a restoration process you are aware of for that? Dang I KNOW not to throw away M3 stuff!!!

I think yours are too far gone from what it sounds. Mine are about 5 years old. The m3 logo is very dirty and stained. The drivers side heel guard is peeling away. And also the Velcro backing sticky stuff is not sticky anymore.

So will take some creativity from my end but it's doable.

Some carpet cleaner and light stitching work.

Or if ordering new ones, just get the ones without the M3 logo. There are more than enough M badges on the car lol.

Too many, actually, which is why I don't use the factory mats with an ///M on it.

FWIW I thought the quality was always poor. I went through 2 sets with the back separating and said "OK that's enough of that."

OP should be able to spray those down with a mixture of Oxy Clean and liquid soap then have them steam cleaned. I wouldn't worry about the stitching.

Or find a hungry dry cleaner, LOL

Bought a set from ECS tuning but they're still in the package yet. Hope they're good when I take them out.
