Puretech Rear X brace

I'm down for a group buy. I'd sell my Dinan rear brace to put that in.
My theory is the BMW engineers designed our trunk floors "perfectly". The problem is the real world never produces perfection and the factory didn't hold to the engineer standards. The cracks are inconsistencies in the metal stamping. This gem is where I formed my in-depth theory http://www.ceb.ac.in/knowledge-cente...0Marciniak.pdf

It does look good, and I considered getting one, but I 've planned to go with a vincebar topside mount install versus just a brace. I do think that underside plates + a brace like the one mentioned in this thread + front mount reinforcement (Vince gusset cup or similar) does alleviate the three failure points, but I rather the peace of mind of a one and done solution which I think the Vincebar and CMP solve at the root of inherent issue of the floor by tying them all together.

I’ll probably stick to my plan of PureTech rear brace plus front foam. Less invasive installs and more diy-able solutions than CMP or vincebar.

We haven't yet seen real world results of "only" addressing our RACP with plates and a rear GTR style bar. Note, the GTR bars do tie into strut towers to provide further scaffolding where as the front resolutions only add more material (like the plates do) except for CMP's full solution which ties it all together.
There are cars with no preventative work with no cracks or cracks so small it doesn't matter. there are some with no work and the floor has fallen out. There are cars where plates have been sufficient, and some where it's not. It's hard to know. Go with your gut and what you can afford. But it's not an immediate/catastrophic failure like vanos or rod bearing can be, so take your time researching/saving up.
Weight shouldn't be too big an issue with how easily you can drop weight from the rear of this car (battery, muffler, tool kit/liners/mobility, cf trunk, amp/cd changer delete, etc).

I also have one but haven't had time to get around to install it. Beautifully made though. I was going to use that in combination with foam.

Unfortunately it looks like a good amount of the images are gone, but look through these threads written by VinceSE2 (maker of the vincebar). They explain in great detail how the RACP fails and why/which types of reinforcements are needed.Originally posted by T.J. View Post
Is this based on evidence? Have people with rear braces seen failures?

I don't know if anyone with just a rear brace has seen failures in the front mounts, but from what I gather from those threads, topside front mount reinforcements are also necessary to fully solve the issue.

Not entirely. You still need to reinforce the front mounts from the top. You could possibly use the foam or a solution similar to the vincebar gusset cups.

Ahh. I see it now my bad. So it’s more like some additional insurance when coupled with the whole plate fix ( including front top reinforcement) from binmerworld.Originally posted by heinzboehmer View Post

Thanks for the input. I assume you would use this with the Bimmerworld or turner plates. Wouldn’t that take care of the whole rear subframe?
