I've gone about my day running errands, getting a workout in and watching responses come in. Guys here are right.

Matt is at least creating content which is better than the 99% of us who don't. Doesn't mean I have to like his tire nib plyers or his content (any longer - I used to), but he certainly has a right to make and share content. If he didn't, I wouldn't have anything to bitch about.

What's cool about this community has always been the grassroots level of commitment to figuring out these platforms, sharing what works and what doesn't, and pressure testing each other's opinions that inevitably rear up.

Matt has a hell of a car and I genuinely hope he realizes it. Good luck with it mate.

Lot of hate for this guy, but I actually like his videos as he gets away from the typical "content creator" style of youtubing. By that I mean the selfie style filming, yelling, and nonstop fast-pace talking.

Many of his detailing videos have helped me a ton. I actually almost bought an e92 m3 because of his.

He's running a business and uses the channel as a marketing tool, not a big deal. I'd be pissed if he was ruining these cars, but the opposite is true.

The base is the passion for the hobby and the car in question. We all agree the car has been out for 26 years now, wtf is the point of saying shit like "rod bearing myths, and subframe after 2003 is ok". I'm not talk about the guys that literally just woke up to liking the E46.

If you have modicum of understanding of social norms, are reasonably grounded, use critical thinking and have some common sense I dont see you being as insufferable when youre talking about your plyers you use for cutting nubs, but dont act like that shit is gold and I need to have it. Apply that to other social situations, read the room, if no ones into your hobby maybe say a few words then stfu and move on. This isn't hard, fame changes you if you let it and if your circle lets you.
I am not trying to bate anyone. But we’re for sure insufferable with this stuff, 100%. Some of us have realized that, like you said have learned to read the room, and know when to keep it to ourselves or how much to let out. Others still think they are a normal dude with a hobby, haha. And all of that aside, if you’re driving a lowered car with an exhaust, you’re still insufferable to the vast majority of people on the road. Whether it’s justified or not. You can’t escape it. And I am saying all of this completely putting Matt Morman aside. I am just pointing out that the pot is calling the kettle black. Pliers or exhausts for example, I don’t think it matters.

As far as Matt goes, it’s his channel and his room. It’s not for everyone, and obviously since it’s a public thing he’s 100% open to criticism. Just like you are when you drive your car on the road. And that’s fine. We can agree to disagree that I think there is a decent lack of self reflection here, and that the subject matter is irrelevant.

RS Ballsach Edition and bulldonkey sent me ngl.

Here's the exact thing about this community that NO OTHER car class has, and I'm biased. I've watched m3f drooling like a fat kid looks at cake for years before I got my car. The way some of you guys would rip eachother apart when someone acted up is almost as good as the advice that was on the forum. Keeping ppl honest about the essence of this hobby IMO is as important as the hobby. I genuinely appreciate that about the ppl here.

This dude is the worst kind of car guy out there, I’d rather watch some grimy kid cutting the springs on his civic

Ha! Well, as lcrain said, he graciously offered to sell it back to me first and I didn’t take it. Matt bought it so it’s his.

It gives me the ick to hear the $10k roof lie but that’s nothing to do with the car. People publicly throwing out the big numbers they paid for something is cringe in general, let alone when it’s made up lol.

    I sold it to him.

Bought something new, impulsively. Toyed with the idea of selling the m3 to a friend who did some work on it. A few hours later I get a call from Matt saying he wants to buy it. After giving repoman a shot at buying it back at a lower price, I agreed to sell it to Matt. He wired money the next morning and had it picked up that night. Easiest car transaction I have ever done.

I did have pause in selling it to him, knowing he was going to take what I thought was the perfect e46 m3 and change quite a bit on the car. But that’s his decision. I’ll regret selling the car itself more than selling it to him. I can’t justify a garage full of toys at this point in my life.

My way of enjoying cars is very different than Matt’s. But I don’t think that makes him less of an enthusiast or worse than me in some way. I haven’t watched any of his content in years and I don’t expect that to change having sold him the car.

How do you say it without sounding like a hater. Matt made a shit load of money and he is really just a rich car prick. I watched a little bit of the video, he talks about a few things that make my point but the biggest one is the rod bearings. He says he doesn’t “believe in rod bearing conspiracy theories” and that he would rather blow up the motor and replace it because the S54 is “cheap,” instead of just doing the bearings for like 2 grand. Only a giant prick would have an attitude like that, and it means everything else he says is also a write off because he doesn’t even live on planet earth.
