Not sure how I missed this, ran out to the car with my laptop from bed...
Can confirn my INPA was all kinds of messed up, I ran the fuel pump test and the sound came from the correct location unlike my INPA copy that activates the SMG pump seemingly. (noise comes from the hood)
After I ran the pump test I tried to start the car and it fired first go so I'm confident my Hella pump checkvalve is faulty.
Many thanks.

I would imagine it would be possible to extend for the MSS50 given they're based on the same family. Indeed for the MSS52 at least it would be very minimal work to extend (I can't say how much for the MSS50 without digging into it a bit more) I just had to make a scope decision and decided to keep the app focused on the MSS54.Originally posted by paulpbmw View PostAwesome tool !! 🔥
If you only someone could start doing this for the MSS50 DMEs that would be real dope. I guess that'll take continuing the work of Kim Fredding (RIP)

The rpm of the fan? If so then unfortunately that's not possible. the DME controls the fan via duty cycle, but there's no feedback mechanism to the DME to tell it how fast the fan is spinning.Originally posted by ac427 View PostWould it be possible to have an RPM reading from both the E-box fan and Engine cooling fan?
It's just because it is hard to hear the E-box fan when the test active when testing on the driveway.

Thank you karter16
This is impressive! I believe it will help me solve my EML issue.
Edit: The DS2 Tool did enable me to properly test/compare a suspect TPS to a known good TPS. Using the data logging capability, and throwing the data at AI, I have high confidence it's a failing TPS causing the EML, and not a wire.
The detail in Error Memory, and the elegant solution for capturing the Error Memory in file and dropping it in the History folder was also extremely useful.
Hi folks, I have a 2005 with about 170k miles on it. I'm converting it over to a track car for HPDE, so it's under stress routinely and I need it to be reliable. Given that these events are costly, I'm trying to address the typical causes of downtime before I go to the track. One cause is the drive-by-wire throttle thatLast edited by OldRanger; 06-24-2026, 08:04 AM.

With the S85 in ISTA you can disable the fuel injectors, that would definitely be cool on the S54 as well, but pulling a single fuse in the glovebox is easy, easier then a laptop imo.
As far I am concerned this tool does enough, especially for the price, but if karter wants to keep going I certainly won't argue!

I think that is the general rule of thumb when carrying out a compression test - hold the throttle wide open. I never bother personally.
he probably just pulled the fuel pump fuse or in clipped the injector rail

Strange. A Mastertech told me that and used it to perform a compression test on my engine. In fact, i helped him. I cannot remember if it was me in the car or him. Probably me while he read the gauge.Originally posted by heinzboehmer View Post
Just gave this a shot and, unfortunately, the car started right up
You must have the throttle pedal down before you spin the car over is all i can tell you. Perhaps i was running standard firmware rather the CSL at that point.

You might be able to do this just by keeping your foot on the throttle pedal when cranking the engine over, since the car will not start with the throttle pedal fully down.

Ah sorry I misunderstood. Yep I get what you're saying, basically go to live values, select which values you want to monitor and then just display those in one view to see them. Yep can definitely do that!Originally posted by ac427 View Post
Sorry, by dashboard i just meant a table of the values like in the DIS screenshots. I guess some or all may be available form 'Live Values' already.

Does the DME expose functionality (via DS2 or otherwise) for disabling the fuel injectors at crank time?
Think it would be super useful for priming the oil system.

Possible yes, but I'm not sure if it really fits with the intent of the app which is more about the programming/diagnostics side of things. There's already a fair few options out there for DS2-based gauges etc. so I hadn't envisaged the app going in this direction.
In terms of gauge type options I think the way to go is something like the Gauge.S that does CAN logging, so you can get 100hz data. Paired with the upcoming v2 of Community Patch you'll have the ability to log and display literally any variable in the DME that you like. The actual code for v2 is finished, I'm just still madly working on all of the documentation to go with it to make it useful for people.

I don't know if you can trigger DTCs via DS2, but that might be a hacky way to go about it, if there isn't some official way to do so in the program. For instance, unplugging the crank sensor will stop the injectors from firing, so there might be a way to take the same branch if the appropriate DTCs are set?Originally posted by karter16 View Posterm good question - I don't know but will look into this, you're right, it would be very useful.
