Any proper kit will have the design where it’s a horseshoe shape with a “bridge” at the top going across connecting them. On the bridge are two thin clips. These mount infront just like the black surround insert does. They no more rub on the ellipsoid during auto leveling than the stationary insert. I have over a decade and a half first hand experiences, mine don’t do that claim. Botched installation or garage made products I suppose could if done incredibly bad. But it would be obvious.
This really is not an issue imho. Honestly never heard of this before.

EAS sold the Aurora V2 Angel Eyes for $200 (not cheap) back in 2010 with all the features you describe. In my opinion, they are all cheaply made, marked up parts and look as such.

Everyone has their own preferences. I personally like the angel eyes. I have the crystal eyes from angel eye guy.

Huh TIL that the ZHP package was only available on facelift cars. So are you saying that's a pre-facelift coupe with the M-Tech 2 bumper, an M3 hood, and M3 mirrors?

Yes it is. 👍🏻

Yep, M-Tech II body package was available from BMW pre-facelift. (listed in back pages of brochure). More popular outside the USA. 330Ci “Clubsport” just one example.
