The resonators eliminate rasp— not drone. Drone is determined by the muffler.

One more question for the 63.5mm section 2 guys. I am specing out the SS exhaust on ECS, the SSV1s are offered as 63.5mm, section 2 is 63.5mm but catless section 1 is only offered as 63.5mm-60mm(it goes from 63.5mm to 60mm). Is there a part number for catless 63.5mm section 1 that doesn't narrow down?

Debating between the resonated and non-resonated version of this, not sure if the resonator makes it quieter or if it just eliminates drone. Suggestions welcome.
My current setup is: SSV1 - SS Catted Section 1 - OEM Section 2 - SS Sport Muffler

What is your option of the sound and is there any drone? What other setups have you had? The exhaust seems to be quiet, I can even hear the induction noise over it.Originally posted by mainstreamer00 View PostAs some have requested, here's a clip of the 2.5" twin resonated section 2.
Other components are: SSV1, SS catless section 1 and SS gen.2 sport muffler.

Is there any exhaust clips with of 2.5" section 2? Most of what is heard in the OPs videos is induction noise from carbon box.

You only need them if you have a catted sec 1. The V1 straight pipe section 1 will mount with standard hardware but you can still opt to do what Ian did by using the header > section 1 bolts.Originally posted by rbg View PostSorry if I am missing it. I remember I read on the old forum that you need different type of bolts to assemble entire SS exhaust V1+oversized sec1+twin section 2+ street muffler. Are those part #s from the top posts correct parts needed?

Is obvious that... If you increase the pipe diameter the sound will be damped.

Indeed, though I do think I'm close to a good place where the exhaust is present and throaty, but doesn't overpower the induction. Maybe cats or resonators in my sect 1 would put me right there. I have, and still do, contemplate going back to stock (or ss street or rdsport) because, as you say, nothing beats the induction.

I'd agree this makes the car quieter-- I just see that as a good thing. I find all e46 M3 exhaust notes to be varying degrees of meh to terrible, and anything that quiets the exhaust down to make the CSL intake sound more prominent is a good thing in my bookOriginally posted by Tbonem3 View PostAgree completely. I swear my car was louder (at least out the tailpipe) when I had 2.16" headers and sect 1 vs 2.5" now.
I actually think, even though you're giving up like 5-10hp, SS V2s with stock sect 1 (and sect 1s with 2 resonators) and SCZA sounds the best. My friend has ss v2 with euro cats, oe sect 2 and og scorza. His car sounds louder and more exotic than mine. But mine is throaty and has more pops and a different, more hollow wail to it. I like both, but I actually appreciate that mine is a little quieter.
