Not as much as i would have guessed.

my biggest issue with the M2 is the back is just so bland. I cant see spending M2 money on a car that could be confused with a corolla or a sentra at a glance. The styling cues from the new batch of bmws just arent doing it for me

IIRC the e46 m3 is only wider than the e36, by any significant degrees (not longer or taller).

I don't know about that, M-cars don't lease particularly well

IIRC the competition is now the base M2 (as in, you can't buy an M2 non comp).

It depends on what car is available for them at the time I think. They probably didn't have a stock e36 M3 so they used a modded one. People aren't just lining up to lend cars on demand.

    It's like comparing a 993 to a 991+, I don't care which is objectively better, I want the 993 in my garage.
I think its just morbid curiosity to see how well we can still hang with the modern series. And this video was quite surprising.. although we still have to account for the drivers skills and the modifications in the e46 e36.
But I get your point. We arent e46 m3 owners because it has the fastest numbers.

If you don't care, why are you in the thread posting about your not caring?

Does not compute. Therefore, we think you care a little bit. A little.
I thought I was just contributing to the discussion, sorry if it hurt your feelings. I did not know you created the video or were personally invested in it. IMO the E46 m3 is pretty much thoroughly cemented as a classic regardless of how it specs out objectively, just look at how bulbous and ugly the M2 looks in comparison, who would choose that given the option ?
