OP hasn't posted a message since Jan 2021. Like most, he only posts when he needs help, has a question, etc.

Good to hear, that's what should have happened in the first place.

My concern is there is a bypass around the oil filter not ALL goes through the filter all the time. If there's metal chunks in your filter theres metal in the rest of the engine...period.

Head has to come off, should be hot tanked. Not too much more work if you're replacing the mains. You could get away with blowing out the oil galleys in the block really well.

Shops make mistakes...let's just hope it is fixed right. But not sure how you put the sprocket on backwards. The chain won't line right.

to play the devils advocate if they screwed up a simple task can they be trusted to tear down an engine and put it back together?

Well, pending your engine returning with a clean bill of health, this is the best case scenario outcome given what happened. I hope it works out!

    So happy about your outcome!
Having experienced a similar situation, when a shop is responsible for engine damage, it's always such a relief when ownership is taken.

Best of luck with your rebuild.

This a major reason I try to do everything myself. The few times I took it to a shop because I was busy have been very disappointing. It’s ridiculous in this case to try blaming the customer for the failure.
