    Oil Pressure Kit installation question

Hi Folks, I'm installing the kit from MSW that includes a distribution block, stainless hose, sensor, mounting clamp, and a patch cable.

Before I finalize the install...I'd like a recommendation on how to purge/bleed the air out of the hose from someone that's done this before. First: do I even need to do that? I presume an air pocket is OK at a steady state.

If I have to purge the air, the option I'm considering involves disabling the fuel pump and cranking the engine in 5 second turns until oil comes out of the hose. Then installing the sensor on the end of the hose and finally mounting it in position.

At the moment, the engine has 5.5L of fresh oil, with about 1L that I poured through the filter housing. The intake plenum is still off from related work, and I'd like to leave it that way until I permanently install the hose/sensor on the strut tower. Fuse 54 (20a) is removed because I had the throttle bodies out for cleaning.

There's no need to purge air.

Just following up - I chose not to attempt purging the air - thought I would see how it works as is. Seems to be working fine - these pressures are a bit higher than I expected, but look reasonable. bigjae46 do you agree?

The data we're getting on AiM indicates about 17psi at idle (oil temp 233F coming off track), and floating around in the 60-70psi range when on the gas on track. Low points in the oil pressure data bottom out in the mid 40s (psi), correspond to lower rpm >4,000.

Note: We have the Oil Diverter installed to see if it can help with oil cooling. Initial data shows it doesn't.

That's about what I get. I think the internal relief is set at 70-ish PSI.
