To be completely honest it’s kind a pain in the butt to do, but it’s rewarding after I finish one and get feedback from people on how much a rebuilt rack changes their driving experience!Originally posted by Obioban View PostPart of me wants to get one to have as a spare, in case you stop doing this 🤣Last edited by davidinnyc; 11-04-2025, 01:00 PM.

Please give the heads up if you ever want to wind down doing this. Hahah. I just picked up a ZCP and am a bit worried if I ever have to replace the rack. What's the life expectancy of our racks anyway?2006 E46 M3 Interlagos Blue ZCP SlicktopBuild Thread: https://nam3forum.com/forums/forum/m...6-m3-ownership

Like everything else, it's totally dependent on performing routine maintenance and driving style. I've had yellow tag racks rebuilt with ~80K miles on the clock and yellow tags with 220K miles and they both had similar failure points with seals, while other racks have minimal seal seepage but had destroyed or rusted bearings... I'd like to think that these should last the lifetime of the vehicle, but my observations lead me to believe that 150K miles is about when they all fatigue.Originally posted by Bimma360 View PostPlease give the heads up if you ever want to wind down doing this. Hi all - many of you have had racks rebuilt over the last year. Just wanted to say thank you for entrusting me with such an important component for your vehicles. It’s been a fun process and I hope to keep providing the service next year should time continue to allow.
Happy New Year!
