I must say that if you track an SMG car and ever hope to left foot brake this pedal is awesome. I love mine and could never go back.

I never knew there were different revisions of this pedal. What is the difference between gen1 and gen3?

          Here's an excerpt I found:

GSP P7 Gen-III Brake Pedal for E46 M3 with SMG II
          Expected release date January 2007

We are proud to offer the next generation of the P7 pedal from the brilliant owner of GS Performance. Gustave is a rocket scientist with a PHD and a fellow true BMW enthusiast. I personally have one of the Gen III prototypes and THIS is what BMW should have installed from the factory on the E46 M3 equiped with the SMG II transmission. From the first time I took a test-drive in my M3 I thought is was pretty Micky Mouse of BMW to simply remove the clutch pedal without at least installing an automatic transmission brake pedal. Like many of you, I've been waiting for Gustave to make more SMG brake pedals. Well...the waiting is over (well, almost).

Named the P7 because it is 7" wide, this SMG brake pedal allows for comfortable and safe left or right foot braking. You can support yourself in hard right-hand turns with your left foot on the dead pedal and the P7 is close enough to hit the brake with your toes. This pedal will make your track/school days more effective. But it's not just for the track...the new P7 Gen-III will make every day driving more enjoyable. I've had mine for only a few days and it's like every other improvement we make in our cars...
HOW DID I LIVE WITHOUT THIS???

The Gen I and Gen II P7 pedals were great pedals and highly sought after, but being the consumate engineer, Dr. Gustave just had to try to improve on the first two designs, and that's just what he did.

Below are the features and design improvements of the new P7 Gen-III SMG brake pedal:

          • Super Stiff & Very Light
          (lighter and stiffer than Gen-I/Gen-II)
          • CNC'd Cluster with Modified Leverage Ratio
          (shorter/stiffer pedal travel)
          • Bronze Bushings and Thrust Washers
          (very low friction design)
          • Tubular 4130 Pedal-Arm
          (highest stiffness-to-mass ratio)
          • Lets you brake like the pros
(right foot or left foot brake)
          • Kit includes all required parts
          • Custom Fabricated in the USA
          (Built to super-precise standards)

          ===

My gen1 pedal has 2 arms compared to the single arm of the newer gens.

Are these the lighter brushes finish or the darker pvd?

I have pvd titanium shift knob and gait ring so I'm looking for the darker finish.

These are the lighter one, I got them to match my now sold aluminum knob and ring.
