Yea sorry to derail the WTB thread, but that's wild. Would be helpful for the general community to know why he pulled you over, and what else is done to your car.
Also this is a good reminder to film every interaction you have with the police, ever. It's legal and will help you with technicalities.
I knew this happens in Irvine/OC, but sucks that it is happening here
If you don't mind, why did he pull you over and what was his justification for inspecting? Also what part of SD?
He pulled me over on Convoy St in Clairmont Mesa at midnight. I passed him going no more than 40-45 mph, and used the excuse of “Your exhaust is loud” and then proceeded to inspect the engine.
Hey, I hope the attached document is useful for your case with the KN filter. Good luck
This is an impressive find and greatly appreciated. Though my intake is a different design than that particular part number intake listed on that form.

So is the problem, other things the state ref is going to find when you go in? Because if it’s just the intake, that should be an open and shut case.

Correct. I am not at all familiar of what all they check at a state ref, but I certainly will not pass a sniff test, the car is also tuned so will fail an OBD check aswell.
Honestly I would lawyer up. The part I still don’t understand is how they can state ref you in California if your car and your drivers license are from other states. I don’t know what was said and recorded on the police cameras, but I really hope you didn’t say you live in California.

Technically I do live here, but I’m active duty, so I’m legally a “temporary resident”. I hired Fyourticket, so we’ll see what happens.
I was able to get AFE to send me a carb sticker. I believe state ref checks everything (emissions - visual + OBD2, and exhaust noise (95db max for CA))
