    WTB: 3.91 gear set

Just a feeler, have had the car for 5 years now, wanted to try this out for the novelty. I know i can get one from BMW motorsport but they shot up in price it seems.

FWIW, I have these in my car and think it’s a nice, very subtle change. They should have come like this from the factory.

    Good luck with the search.

This is great feedback, i've been on the fence for the longest time

Happy to help. To be honest, I don’t really notice the difference. The revs are marginally higher, which makes sense for a high revving engine. It feels that normal. Unless you’re going racecar and the higher gearing doesn’t work for your home track, I don’t see a downside.

that's where my apprehension is, shows you're in LA so you understand the nuances of the 91/55 freeway and 101/405. I'm assuming the torque multiplier helps considerably.

I think this mod sounds more impactful on paper. It really just played out like an incremental, or complimentary, improvement for me. Maybe the 4.10s are the noticeable step.

In terms of freeway driving, you definitely don’t need a downshift to pass or move about anymore. I can also take right/left turns on city roads at city speeds in third and not bog down. That’s nice.

My car experience is different than others (one of my cars is at 4k in top gear at 75mph), but I have no regrets on the 3.91s.

              I went with 4.1.

3.91 is an 8% change in final drive ratio, 4.1 is 13% change. So 4.1 will be more noticeable for sure.
