Yeah want to install these in my car over the winter? hahahaOriginally posted by Obioban View PostBump. Price lowered again.
I feel like I'm taking crazy pills. We are now ~$700 off what you can buy them for elsewhere, in the same condition?2006 E46 M3 Interlagos Blue ZCP SlicktopBuild Thread: https://nam3forum.com/forums/forum/m...6-m3-ownership

I had a quick interest, until I priced the rockers. Those are necessary with these, correct?
Back in the day, Schrick said you need DLC rocker for the 290/288, but not 280/272. More recently they said you need them for both.
I've been running 280/272s with my original rockers for almost a decade now with now issue (when I installed them, Schrick said that was fine).

I wouldn't suggest skipping them.
There are cheaper avenues than spending $3500 on new followers however.

These are also an option I think.
I would probably go this route. These cams are a great deal! Killer for me is labor cost on the install. All in including labor I am just not sure it's worth it for me. I've rebuilt an M20 head, and while I understand the S54 is vastly different, I think I could still do the install. I just don't know that I want to haha. Truth be told, this winter I'll be doing the cooling system refresh, and am thinking well since I'll already have the radiator out, maybe I go all the way and remove the rest of the front end so that I could slide the rocker arm shafts out. While I am in there right? FML.
OR... I have euro headers on the way. Maybe I hold off installing them until winter, so then I can just pull the head. Get the CSL valves, and refresh the seals. Perhaps, I can just pull the head and drop it off somewhere and let them do the refresh with the new valves. And then just pop it back in, and install the euro headers and new cooling system while I am at it. I hate myself.2006 E46 M3 Interlagos Blue ZCP SlicktopBuild Thread: https://nam3forum.com/forums/forum/m...6-m3-ownership

I actually bought the followers off Obioban. At this point I'm just collecting parts, as I know when I actually go to build my motor it's going to be more expensive than it is now.
I'm going to run 280/280 Shricks. And I plan to pick up the stroker kit off VAC, it's what Partee uses in their motor. I'll probably have VAC cnc port my head as well, they offer a nice supercharger port job.
I'll probably have Anri build it.
But, like I said, at this point I'm collecting parts and drafting up a plan.Last edited by 9kracing; 07-18-2026, 07:56 AM.2004 Dinan S3-R M3
