Bought this set new from Bimmerworld back in 2012. Absolutely amazing kit that I miss now that I have KW V2s. I used the kit strictly on street where it served DD duty for nearly 7 years and 45k miles. I had intentions of tracking the car, but just never had the time. Still, I never regretted the $2300 they cost me. Note that these are pre-AST Motons before the founders sold the Moton name to AST and moved on to MCS.
The coilovers will need to be rebuilt. I know that at least 2 are blown (front and rear passenger sides) due to leaks observed on both over time. I contacted Performance Shock who quoted around $1000-1500 to rebuild all 4, depending on what they find on disassembly. I do know for a fact that 2 piston rods will need to be replaced at the tune of $250/each, so the rebuild will be at least $1500 to start. Reason for replacement is scratches/pitting on the piston rod surface.
The orange anodizing on the rear shock bodies is perfect, as are the bodies themselves. The front bodies are not anodized but are in excellent condition as well, save for the typical grime. FWIW, Performance Shock said they will use a 'hot bath' and 'ultrasonic cleaning' to get them as clean as possible.
I have no idea what the (internal) condition is of the blown shocks and thus am selling the kit AS IS. If you buy the kit, there will be no refunds if the cost of R&R is found to be higher than $1500. You are buying these on the gamble that if rebuildable for $1500, you are getting a damn good set of coilovers that will provide excellent street and track performance.
FYI, I originally had the kit paired with GC Street Camber plates and 6" Hyperco springs (450#) up front, and GC rear mounts, Rogue Engineering Articulating Spring perches, and TCK springs (550#) in the rear.
I will include the Ground Control rear shock mounts which are in excellent condition and still installed on the rear shocks (though I'd suggest changing out the bushing). The 4 orange adjustment knobs are included as well. I do not have the adjustment wrench. No other items are included.
And for those wondering why I didn't just rebuild them vs. installing KW V2s: 1) couldn't afford the downtime of a rebuild given the car's DD status; and 2) I got a killer deal on the V2s which were more in line with the DD focus of the car at this juncture
Price for the coilovers: $400 + shipping
