For Sale: E39 wiper stalk switch for M-track mode button (61318375407)

Selling a mint E39 wiper stalk. This is identical to the E46 ones except it has an extra button on the end originally used for the high intensity washer system that you can use for an M-track mode button. Just add a wire to the appropriate place or move your existing wire for ZCP cars into the connector for the stalk. I just switched mine back to the one button wheel.

    $45 shipped

I will take it, do you have a link for how to wire? Remember a post from old forum but haven't seen another.

Hey, unfortunately I have no idea how to do it if you don’t have ZCP. There’s a connector (X10170) behind the steering wheel that does different things on the standard cars and ZCP. On standard it provides I-bus and power for the radio controls/CC and on ZCP those wires are not present and replaced with a wire for the M track mode button — don’t know where it goes and TIS is no help. If you have a ZCP though it’s as simple as moving the wire from pin 8 of the green X10170 connector to the wiper stalk connector ... pins are compatible and everything. It took me 20 minutes to rip out the multifunction wheel wiring retrofit kit, move the wire back and reinstall the wheel.

Can you share a little bit more details on how you reversed back to the single button steering wheel? I'm in the same boat....previous owner installed the normal upper steering wheel controls and re-wired the button to the stalk, i put in a competition upper trip and want to put the control back to the single button.

Hey, there’s a BMW document floating around that details installation of the upper trim / cruise retrofit kit. I just reversed the wiring changes. Pulled out the retrofit kit wiring as well. Sorry no link handy but it should be findable.

No Worries! I did some wire tracing and figured it out - Track Mode is pin 8 on the green connector under the steering wheel for those with a Competition upper trim, and pin 10 on the end of the E39 M5 wiper stalk for those using that instead. So, basically take your pick, and run the wire (orange w/ white stripe) to the corresponding spot.
