Must have mods on CSL (Power & Handling) - Anyone got racelogic box/results here?

    Hi there

Right am considering getting back into a CSL.

Have two options, sell the Mustang and will have circa 35k to put towards buying a modding a car. Or save like mad and buy a high mileage car for circa 18-20k and mod it over time.

My last CSL was stock, except for Milltek catback system which probably gave no power increase.

Now I know stock a CSL has following performance stats (Mustang in brackets):-
    0-60mph in 4.8s (4.3s)
    0-100mph in 10.9s (8.7s)
    30-70mph in 3.9s (2.9s)
    60-100mph in 6.0s (4.4s)
1/4 mile in 13.2s or there abouts. (11.5s for Mustang)

Has anyone here got a racelogic box and if so, any stats for the above from you CSL?

Am I right in thinking that a complete exhaust, includings CATS and remap can yield circa another 25BHP from the CSL? Is more possible and those who have done this can you feel the difference or any improvement in times etc?

I am asking because I know I cant get a CSL as quick as my Mustang except for spending a small fortune on a supercharger but if I can improve it a bit then that would be good.

Now I know when it comes to brakes, its AP's all the way.

That leaves suspension, what are the must have suspension mods/tweaks/geo settings for ultimate road handling and odd track day fun?

P.S. Anyone interested in a very sorted Mustang and anyone selling a decent CSL, possibly with mods already in place?

Yep Mark is right...all depends what you want the car for...I drove a Mustang, standard mind, and it was terrible in the corners but was fast on the straights....2 very different cars. For me it's about how the car feels to drive and the CSL in standard form was just a nicer place to be and far more focused as a drivers car.

            Hi there

Guys am not trying to compare the Mustang, have owned a CSL before remember.

What I am interested in is what kind of power gains are possible and what are the must have suspension mods?

A lot of you guys here must have done power upgrades and suspension upgrades, as such what kind of improvement did they give?

My CSL was stock when I had one, can the stock car be improved much for road use?

BMW did a great job with the csl in the suspension department in my opinion as for power you wont get much more unless you spend a small fortune.
Buy it drive it at the ring it will scare you :hahaha:

If you want bragging rights for the pub, just go get it supercharged to 500+hp

The CSL is not about outright power

Before more power comes driver training

Don't waste your money on power mods - i did and wished i hadn't bothered so reverted it to near standard again!

Brakes upgrade best mod you can do

                    3 suggestions:

                    1. Pull the CSL motor out and drop in the new s65 V8 - instant 420hp and couple of kg lighter than the S54B32 motor too.

                    2. Pull the CSL motor out and buy a BMW Motorport s54 (yes they sell them, I think it's called a P54B32, can't remember, but BMW Germany have just started to sell racing stuff to the public - check out BMW US website for BMW motorsport stuff) - instant 450hp and it'll just bolt up (might have to run a motec or some aftermarket computer to get it going though and don't expect to pass emissions or noise restictions)

                    3. Strip everything out of the CSL and take another 100kg off the car if you can - it'll eat almost anything on the road that pushes similar horse power.

100% agree with glendog, i think we would all like some more power but it's just not accessible cheaply on the CSL. I wish i'd have save my money...
