What cams would you go with?

What cams do you guys recommend i go with. Seems to be a couple options.

I plan on installing the cams and the airbox hopefully at the same time. Followed by vac throttle bodies, and vac pulley kit. Also planned is the 3.91 gearing as well.

Someone please confirm info below to that of what you know. Below are the cam degree setup that I'm having a hard time narrowing down to.

    1. 280/272 - Stock US?
    2. 280/288 - CSL?
    3. 304/296 - Schrick Option

Anyone? Are any of you running non csl cams

Are any of you running non csl cams, if so why. How has it affected your performance, and why did you get different cams.

I know the 304 296 make no difference to pace with the higher lift, but some like to get them because they have the thickness to custom grind the cam for high power builds:thumbs:

No point going for Schrick CSL spec cams.

I will be going for higher power once my engine shits itself. Might be tomorrow, might be 3 yrs. Who knows. But it WILL be staying NA. I dont think SC would have longevity for track work.

Just seen its a normal M3, so CSL spec cams would be a worthwhile upgrade.

Correct if I'm wrong but throwing all this money on CSL bits and pieces, would it be cheaper to buy a CSL???

So if you were a yank you couldn't even import one? Or would you pay massive import duty ?

I heard a rumour once that a rich dealer imported one for his daughter.

Juan Pablo montoya has 1 but cant drive it on the public roads legaly

The CSL is not allowed in the U.S. without massive Federalization requirements which would make it cost prohibitive.

Wasn't there a similar thing with the 959? Didn't the Microsoft boys get around it somehow, although possible with a load of cash?

If so, OP go send Billy Gates a few pics of a CSL!

Well i decided on the cams i'll be acquiring them shortly...

I'm going with the CSL cams and ratio of 288/280 degrees which most of you guys luckily have as standard. Figure hell with it, go even further oem csl with my car.

                              Current Build Progress Below:

Yes, as some of you stated we cannot get the CSL in the U.S. However two people have somehow imported them, but from my understanding they are not street legal. For me it just made sense to take a CS (ZCP) M3 which had some csl components already and finish the transformation. I've spent over $30,000 USD total so far in all modifications. I'm not done with the project, but what i ultimately want is a full transformation down to the damn cardboard trunk liner.

Luckily I may have an individual who I'm dealing with about the oem csl airbox right now, awaiting on pictures.
