I would get everything in writing from Loughton and then tell them you're going to get a second opinion. Get it to Murketts and show them a copy of what Loughton have said is wrong. If Murketts can't find any of the problems, i'd be straight on the phone to BMW GB, using the written evidence...
Good luck getting it sorted mate.

An update....posted now because the car back under my lock and key...I'll stay impartial and let you guys make your mind up..
So after Mondays feedback, I called Murketts, spoke to Anthony, Andys sidekick (very, very helpful) first thing on Tuesday and confirmed I would be picking up from Chigwell and driving to Huntingdon that morning (day off). To remain impartial, I gave Anthony the feedback on the suggested work / oil story but DIDNT name the dealer.
Then called Chigwell, informing them that I was picking up and taking the car back..but wasnt explicit where I was taking it...
In the interim, something then came up which I meant I couldnt get to Murketts that day so spoke to Chigwell again and then there was some backtracking...
Apparantly, the technician had taken another look and the disk/pad looked in ok shape. The caliper was still fooked and it was suggested the limp home was potentiometer related. Both were covered under warranty (£100 excess) so because I couldnt get to Murketts on that day, I OK'd the work under warranty and nothing else. Called Anthony at Murketts back to confirm I wouldnt be getting them on this occasion due to personal circumstance, but (based on referrals from here) would be using them in future....prob in near future for a check over. He sounded a little reserved on the call (hope he doesnt think I am a messer, I WILL be taking it there).....Dunc, Rob, perhaps you can smooth that over for me next time you are up that way and that I am genuine !!
Chigwell suggested they mentioned disks / pads the day before as it is standard BMW dealer practice to replace both discs (set of 2) and possible the pad as when there was a seized caliper.
Also mentioned that the bushes "were after market sir" and according to the technician were looked like they were ill fitted / twisted but may be like that for performance reasons ?? "Our official advice would be to have these done".....I didnt...and suprise, car feels fine.
Waited in all day yesterday on day off for pick up, but never got the call (and didnt get a reply when I called) so picked up today instead.
On pick up today, they were very flattering "lovely car Sir, dont see many of those, really is very special etc etc". Said they believed the problem has been cured by potentiometer replacement (technician had been out etc etc) and then only gave me an invoice detailing my excess payment and said that they would detail the work done in a further invoice and sent out to me for my records once BMW warranty had confirmed their cover ....at this point, was getting a bit pi$$ed off with everything and just paid and fooked off....(this was after the guy saying take a seat Sir and I'll bring the invoice ofer to you - its a little complicated.......it had one fooking line !!)
To be fair, and for balance, the car is better (no limp home on high revs), they have topped up washer fluid (big deal !) and looked liked it had been cleaned in & out. No probs with brakes etc (but obviously dubious of this anyway).
It was also nice to see that only 15 miles had been covered from dropping it off and MPG numbers remained normal (forgot to mention, last time, it had dropped from c.24 per gallon to 17 per gallon on pick up - either some toe rag giving it the beans or something to do with work done last time).
Anyway, once bitten and all that. Straight to Murketts next time.......this has left me with a very bitter taste indeed. Been there twice and on both occasions feel like I have been taken the piss out of. This cant be good for BMW rep. Have a good mind to turn up a PH meet on Sunday at BMW, Bracknell with a big fook off complaint letter !!
Thanks for reading

Well, it's failed! :banghead:Originally posted by s.mac View Post:hahaha::hahaha::hahaha: be ready for the call
3 x leaking brake callipers...
I'm rather pissed off in truth as the 'worst' was a very slow weep from the inboard bleed nipple on a rear calliper - which simply needed tightening a little to stop it.
The other two were that there was evidence of 'brake fluid moistness' around the banjo bolt end of the supply pipe - no leaks, drips or even weeps - just 'moistness'. With that, BMW technician man resolutely stuck to the MOT testing schedule and the car was failed.
BMW dealerships = very annoying!
Not gonna pay them a penny to sort it as they 'don't touch AP brakes' so i will order new sealing washers from AP tomorrow and do it myself. Just need to get a bleeder kit and learn how to bleed the brakes now... :bigcry:
