Absolutely Shane. It seems not too many people today have the respect they should. My Grandad survived Burma in WW2. His experiences haunted him to the day he passed on. The stories were amazing and there was something about hearing them first hand from someone with real experience that hits home far more than any documentry or book.Originally posted by lawsy View PostYep, my grandad fought in the war, quite a decorated soldier. I remember growing up and sitting on granddads knee telling me stories from the war, routing through his photos, medals etc. Filled me with a great sense of pride, he died a number of years ago, but the memories of his tales are fresh ad yesterday
The real men of that era make us look like pussies in comparison,
It's a shame the world has change so much.
It's a shame that the ethos of the real men, the gentlemen of yesteryear seems to be dieing out.
Ps I'm glad ya dad chose uk, I love you. Lol

some very intersting facts, especially this one!
As part of an advertising campaign designed to highlight their concerns about the numbers of foreign workers (including Polish migrants) in the United Kingdom, the British National Party used the distinctly British icon of a Spitfire to illustrate their idea of a Battle for Britain. Ironically, the Spitfire shown in their advertising was RF-D from 303 (Polish) Squadron.[19] It was the Spitfire with Donald Duck artwork of Polish aceJan Zumbach, who during the Battle of Britain scored eight confirmed kills against Messerschmitt Bf 109 fighters:thumbs:

Here is a great story my granddad told me.
Him a sergeant and one other lad were out scouting, he could speak German
They were near a German camp in the undergrowth when a German group of about 25,
Stopped near them the sergeant said we should shoot them!
My granddad said the only shot would be me shooting you if you open fire LOL
They dont make them like that any more
