Thanks! I ordered a couple gizmos from Amazon that I hope will make the job easier.

Another question, now that I have everything out, should I spring for delrin shift carrier bushings? It's going to be a dedicated track car with occasional weekend use. (It'll be driven to events, so I'm trying to strike something of a balance between street and track use, at least for now.) I haven't driven a manual in many a year, so I'm trying to make sure shifting is as solid as I can make it to avoid money shifts.

Thanks in advance, I appreciate the insight!

If the transmission is out of the car, then yes, you will want to do the detent shift pins

Well, I don't have the tranny out of the car, just doing the shift bushings. I ordered a kit with everything, but I've seen several posts about going to the delrin shift carrier bushings:

Sorry for the confusion, and thanks for the help! (Unless I'm misunderstanding you, which is very possible. This is Fisher Price My First Project Car, so I'm learning as I go.)

Well, I finally got it out. Picked up some generic seal removal tools form Amazon, but the 'hooks' on those were too wide to get under the seal. Decided I'd buy the seal removal tool from BMW, but naturally the 'cone' didn't fit over the shaft. (Argh! Total waste of money.) Ended up whacking it with a hammer to deform it and I had it out in 2 minutes.

            Thanks everyone for the help!
