In the ot tradition, I love to fly in small aircraft. I get over to the Bahamas now and then on business and a couple times have flown on "vintage air" There planes are "vintage" Beachcraft twin props" Was landing on a remote island one time and had huge cross winds. It was like doing a big tank slapper in the air! Fun stuff!
Right on. Wish we still had our cessna.

Island hopping is awesome. Coolest flight I ever did was out to marthas vineyard. Just gotta make sure you have enough altitude to glide to land if necessary.
should have an instructor for HPR...time to see if that zionsville is worth a damn
Right on, I likely won't have an instructor unfortunately, but all should be good. Won't be pushing too hard anyway.
Don't have an SA rated helmet - only two "motorcycle" helmets. I've always just borrowed from friends for track events, and I was ready to purchase my own this season but figured I might as well wait for the 2010's to come out.

Even with all my auto-x experience, and other racing experience, I still remember my first and second track days, and I was COMPLETELY lost. Forget about the fact that you won't even be close to finding the correct line, but you won't know where any of the flagging stations are, or any of the passing etiquette etc etc. I would recommend to ANYONE that they have an instructor in car at all times for at least their first 4-5 track days. Your attitude is completely wrong and as Calvin said, you'll most likely be black flagged within the first few laps and thrown off the track with no refund.
Track situations are dangerous enough even when you have an instructor, and especially when you have no high performance driving experience. IIRC, you've only been to 1-2 auto-x's and aren't even comfortable with pushing the car hard. I'm not trying to be a dick here, but you're honestly putting yourself and everyone else in danger by your decisions. Get on the waitlist, get an instructor, and run the proper way. If you don't get to run because you waited to long to register or because they don't have enough instructors, so be it; there will be plenty other track days. If you go out and total your car or hurt yourself there won't be...

If u want a first track day story from one od my students at Road America, let me know. To say the least, its not good, and that's with an instructor in the car

completely WRONG behavior to have.. u really need to sign up for INSTRUCTOR novice.. they dont have the instructors for everyone, thus the wait list...
There is a VERY VERY high chance u are going to get there, they are going to find out you are a complete noob, and WONT LET U RUN. Thank you for the money, but you willingly signed up in the wrong run group, and are now a danger/safety issue for everyone else on the track. I would not be surprised if they told u that you cant go out.
Fellas, I'm here. Had a crazy day and night. Hence did not get a chance to reply. When I posted my first comment about going solo I was was getting tires mounted on Fogrelines yesterday morning.
Then went to my uncles house (I use his garage to store my stuff), to clean the forgelines, clean my DSII's (for the next buyer). Polished the Fogrelines, mounted the spacers. When everything was said and done it was 6pm, got home at 7, got ready for a long night out with friends, was out till 4:30am.
Got home 9am this morning, went to work 11-7pm and now I'm here. I wasnt running away or not replying, just did not have a chance.
Guys, I am not being arrogant or cocky and I dont want to get into anyones wrong book here. Also from the beginning when I mentioned I wanted to attend a HPDE event it was to find a rhythm and not to PUSH the car to find any limits, which I've maintained from the beginning.
I registered for Novice Green Solo, because that group wont have hard-core track cars, which might have huge speed differentials and closing speed's. The group will have Novice drivers some instructed some solo. I'm aware of the track passing rules, flag rules etc and again my only purpose to go there is just to get into a flow without trying to push the car or going for a lap time.
All your concerns are justified, I've talked to a couple regulars at lightening and thunderbolt about how the event is run and I'm aware of ideal track line. In all honesty I dont see myself as being a DANGER to myself of the others on track and I'm just saying this normally, please dont think I'm trying to show-off here.
In all honesty I gave it a good thought before I signed up for Solo, I made the decision after thinking about it for 2 days, and since I am not going there to PUSH-IT I just felt that I would be able to do Solo with a Novice group.
IF I reach the track and there is even a single doubt i me, I will try everything to get an instructor with me, if Not I will just hang around the track and complete my assigned duty without going on track. The last thing I want to do is go on track with doubts and uncertainty in my mind endanger other guys on track and myself.

Aavi, you're still being foolish. DO NOT THINK LIKE THIS....this will be your 1st track event.
I met a man at the track at Putnam. it was his 1st event ever after 15 years of avid autocrossing. He had an instructor every session except the last one on Sunday. He told me he never ever even thought he could go solo his very 1st time on track.
you don t know the line, you don t know etiquette, you don t know the flag stations, you don t know how to check your mirrors properly...you ve never been on track
I love jeeves the jeep . Great torque out of the 4.0 inline 6 and only thing we've needed to replace is the radiator. Shocks are definitely needed soon though.
I removed the center console stuff and cut it so that with the center console stuff installed, you can't see the cut (i.e. it is just above the center console bottom edge) (red line).
So that you don't see any cut behind the center console you can cut across where the drivers seat butts up against the trans tunnel and run that cut under the drivers seat (blue line).
Hopefully that gives you a rough idea of what I'm talking about.

The main part is just cutting around the center console because that is where it joins the drivers and passanger side so you can't easily remove it without pulling the entire dash out and then if you want to put it back in you have to pull the dash again.
Past that you just remove a few of the plastic trim pieces near the door and foot wells and thats it.
I had all of the carpet in the car removed. I did keep the headliner (never even thought about taking that out as I like it and its not too heavy) and the hood liner (also not heavy and I like it). Other than those, the seats, and the rear shelf there was basically no fabric in the car.
hmm I'll have to talk to you about this in person when the time comes.
