I thought the PSS9's didn't fit the E36 correctly, which is something I don't want to deal with I would prefer a direct bolt on. Just was curious if anyone had used them and what their thoughts were in comparison to stock suspension. I will look at the GC set up etc, thanks for your response though.Originally posted by M3F1RSTMegan Racing = mediocre parts, sometimes hit or miss and wont last you as long as you'd like. Save your money and get something like Ground Controls or Bilstein PSS9's, or ST suspension.

Pulled this comment from another forum where they were ordering them and reviewing and thought it was interesting.Originally posted by M3F1RSTMegan Racing = mediocre parts, sometimes hit or miss and wont last you as long as you'd like. "Just got them. I've had a set of Bilstein PSS9's before for my VW, and they cost twice as much as these did. I figured it was name brand so it had to be great right? Well, I can honestly say these coils (Megan) look like twice the coilovers my Bilsteins were. Really awesome looking product and really well built. For "cheap" coilovers, they're not very cheap at all."
Still sifting through reviews on different makes and models though...
Edit: found some interesting reading here on the M3 forums for the MR coilovers with a review from another member. Sorry I may have jumped the gun and posted before doing a full search, though if anyone else has used them and wants to put in their $0.02 worth on how they have held up that would be cool.

A friend of mine bought the Megan coil-over kit for his 99' M3 and within 8 months of installing them, they are beginning to make spring noise. The kit is really cheap, but i believe in you get what you pay for. I bought the World Challenge series coil-overs from turner with the camber plates ran me about $2600 but my god they are amazing. Took them out on Barber Motorsports Park for the first time and they performed without a flaw, best money I've ever spent.

You get what you pay for when it comes to suspension.
Megan Racing shocks, at least in the Subaru world, are not valved equally side to side or front/rear. They fail, routinely, within a year or two from purchase, have a super harsh and jarring ride that cannot be adjusted out (firm ride does not mean it handles well, remember that), the adjusters have 30+ positions which all do exactly nothing, and did I mention they fail all the time?
You'd do better to pour gas on $1000 and then light it on fire.
For a good suspension setup, don't believe everyone who instantly says "get teh coiloverzzzzz." A nice set of Koni shocks with H&R/Eibach/Vogtland/etc springs would suffice quite well. Apparently Bilstein shocks suck for E36 applications, but don't for other apps.
If you want adjustable ride heights or more tunability, go with coilovers. An excellent entry level setup ($1500 or so) is the GC or TCK single adjustable kit. AST is the current bandwagon on the internet, and does make good shocks, but at a slightly higher price point ($1800-2000). From there, the sky is the limit, but you wouldn't be asking about Megan Racing shocks if you were seriously considering or needed a high end setup.
I have TCK DAs on my car, and have driven a car with AST4200s. They both handle damn well. Get TCKs, the money you save compared to an AST setup will buy you some track time and instruction. For most drivers, the laptime difference between the two setups is negligible and unimportant, and both ride really comfortably (when set up correctly). Get the TCKs unless AST had dropped the price to be +/- $100 or so.

I have Megan coilovers on my 98. I got them as a sort of "stop gap" because when I got the car the suspension was completely shot, and I needed something quick, so I just got some megan coils. They look pretty decent, welds look pretty good, installation was easy. Granted, I do not track my car at all, maybe spirited once in a while. I have had them for 2 1/2 years now and they are still okay. Mind you, I could have gotten lucky and got a quality set. I have heard different stories about them over the years, some people say they suck, some say they are okay. I'm still getting something else though.
If I had to do it again I wouldn't get them, I'd guess 50% of people who have them say they are okay, and 50% is not all that promising. I would go for something a little more well known and proven to be a better product.
That's just my experience with them.

Actually didn't say my trans was screwing up, because I don't know if it is the trans or not since it is only during the first cold start when going in reverse. Also it never hurts to do a bit of research.Originally posted by WICSTAIn your last thread, you were saying that your auto trans was screwing up, and that you were not looking into any upgrades right away. Fix the tranny problem first before you start dumping money into coilovers. Good luck

Thanks again guys, I am looking at options and one of the things I have noticed in the car forums is there is alot of discussion about coilovers and very little agreement. For $1k and below I thought maybe to try something different and I haven't ruled out staying with a basic strut spring combo either. I had decent results with bilstein strut and Sti pink spring combo on another application in the past. The problem is this car handles nicely stock so definitely don't want to make it worse. I will continue checking out different combos and set ups and consider all the kits advised. I am personnally not sold on anything yet.
