Just had this happen on my '95 Supra. I replaced both the clutch master and slave cylinders, and all is well.

The master and slave cylinders tend to go when the cars are this old anyways. I would just replace both since you are going to be bleeding the system. This is on my to-do list.

OK I got the old slave cylinder out. The pushrod came out OK but about 75% of the plastic tip were missing! I felt around on the ridge where the cylinder bolts on and was able to fish out a couple of tiny plastic pieces.

I am not an expert with the inside of the transmission - how big a problem will it be if those plastic pieces are still in there? I have no idea how long ago it broke off.

        Thanks,

        Mark

I'm no engineer, but I wouldn't think that any serious harm would come from a couple little pieces of plastic in the clutch. If they somehow managed to get up into the cover/friction disc/flywheel area, I imagine they'd just be vaporized instantly.

Thanks guys, my clutch is now working normally!!!!!

I'm glad I bought plenty of extra fluid, half of it ended up on the garage floor... do not buy the $6 oil can from Home Depot, the nozzle is held together with chewing gum and used tampon strings
