tough room but alpine36 you asked for it when you led with 'rebuilt' title. that said, 1000s of cheap e36 m3's out there that invite plenty of unscrupulous Russians (or other ethnic peeps that like to bilk unsuspecting buyers of their hard earned cash).
i recall in my search alone i came across dozens of salvage titled M3's and only a few clean titled ones in the SoCal area and nearly pulled the trigger on a salvage one. Thing is, I keep saying to myself 'who da F is going to buy this POS from me when it comes time for me to sell it?'. That woke me up real fast!
Who knows, in the long run this kid may have a good runner, but if he doesn't he learns a lesson either way right?

Originally posted by Alpine E36Hello guys, I recently bought my E36 M3 Alpine White from some Russian Guy, it has 73k miles, but its Rebuilt. It is really clean the exterior is literally 9.8/10, practically has no scratches or anything. The mods it came with are, K&N Intake, Borla Exhaust, which sounds nice and not too loud. I plan on modding it in the near future, but only with light mods, or cheap and easy to install mods. I also need to fix couple things before I do that. It has aftermarket Halo Lights(don't know what kind), the right side HALO's don't work anymore, and the left headlights only one HALO works . The other thing I would need to fix is the black backseat which is a little ripped. I wanted to know if you guys know any good kind of aftermarket HALO lights, or should I go with the stock ones, which ones are cheaper and or better. Now my backseat is a easy fix , because of how much people are parting E36 M3 black backseats, but I was wondering if you could take of the bottom end of seat , not the back rest part of the seats, because that the part where my sit is ripped and I wanna replace. The issue is whether or not you realize the true, overall condition of the car.Originally posted by Alpine E36This is funny, only 1 person really answered my questions, I don't really care about the critisicm because I dont get butthurt but it would be nice, If I could get some advice from for what I asked on this thread.
As a general rule, salvage and rebuilt title M3's have problems, some obvious and some not so obvious, have little or no maintenance records, and are purchased cheaply.
Here, this M3 seems to fit all three categories. It is true that advice was provided with respect to the lights. However, lights and a ripped back seat are the least of the concerns at this point. Stating the vehicle is a 9.8 out of 10 despite a misaligned hood, grill and trunk cover and rashed wheels and having a mechanic "take the head off" to somehow prove the exact mileage, indicates an over compensation, naiveness, or failure to recognize the true condition of the car.
A fresh paint job does not overcome all those defects and hide the true condition because, even though the car was repaired from the wreck, there is no assurance that it was done correctly since the car has no maintenance records. Further, if the car was repaired correctly, it would hardly be sporting ebay parts or have the panel gaps it does. Moreover, it can be assumed that if little attention was paid to the proper assembly of the front panels, little attention was paid to the other parts under what those panels cover. Specifically, were the control arms bent and replaced, and if so, what was used? What about tie rods? What happened to the radiator?
As it can be seen, the comments made don't really go outside the scope of providing feedback since the original description and pictures and discussion thereafter go beyond two simple question about lights and seats. As such, it's likely the overall condition of the car is not completely understood.

What's the Carfax gonna tell you that you can't already see.
It was wrecked and hastily reassembled?
Some Moscow hooker put her heel through the back seat when trying to untie herself?
Headlights are from ebay.ru?
