Did you change the battery or just disconnect tit? Is the battery bad? Will the car start? Your symptoms describe what my car does when the battery is very low.

Just disconnected it for a few minutes to reset the ecu. Starts and drives fine. Just no gauges function and the annoying chime is constant with the keys in or not. Battery is 3 months old.

Didn't you have an issue a while back with the battery? Wasn't there a cluster reset procedure?

I did! Battery was replaced but the tamper dot came on. Cluster reset worked. Cluster doesn't respond to the reset now.

Gave it to my Indy to figure out since I have meetings all day. I really need a beater so I can take my time in fixing stuff.

Let us know what comes out of this. I have been thinking about it and have not come up with anything reasonable.

Same here. Weird that the chime will not stop... almost as if there's a bad ground somewhere.

That was my first thought, I took a quick look at the ETIM and could't find a place that looked like a short or ground could do that.

Trunk wiring? IIRC, my gauges died and central locking went haywire when the trunk wiring harness was failing.

Well I need a new cluster! Anyone know where I can find one under 95k miles used? New they're $1150 and take 15 days to get here from germany. Fck that. Any help will be appreciated.

Ah, I just saw one either on the BFc or M3F for sale section. Can't remember which. I think the mileage was just a bit higher, but a higher mileage cluster on a lower mileage car shouldn't be an issue, especially with the coding plug, right?

Also, on a related note, now might be a nice time to switch to a Euro cluster...

The mileage of the new cluster has to be less or the new one will update the DME with the higher number. This is stressing me out.

Can't you swap coding plugs and be all good??

From what I've read it only works if the new one has less mileage.
