Oh yeah, get that light read and I wouldn't put any more money into it until I know what it said. And I'm not sure about the flash to see you either all I know is stuff from when I used to have a turbo DSM

Here's what I found when I read the errors. I don't see listed anything denoting what error code would come up if read with a Peake scanner.

I'm not sure what this device is that it's referring to?

Second pic shows the second O2 sensor appears to be bad? My pic is cut off at top so I don't know what that top error actually is.
On a side note I did find one small vacuum hose unplugged when I crawled under the car yesterday. However it did not help. In fact things got worse when I plugged MAF back in.

Just swapped out the 2 pre-cat O2 sensors as I didnt have more than just 2. So far no change in performance.
I also changed out the cam position sensor, IAT sensor, engine coolant temp sensor, MAF, and i have a crank position sensor to install when I can get on a lift.
Olemiss540, where in the wiring is the resistor you found in the MAF wiring loom?

If I can't find a smoker for detecting vacuum leaks I may be forced to remove the intake manifold and just replace the gaskets. Do some cleaning, replace all vacuum hoses, etc. With the amount of miles i have on this car it might be prudent just to do it. I dunno. I need this car running better.

Still having this issue and it's actually getting worse. I asked around locally to see if anyone had a smoke machine to no avail. I keep telling myself I don't have time to make one and troubleshoot why mine isn't working. LOL!
To date, I have replaced the following:
Cam position sensor
Engine temp sensor
Valve cover gasket
MAF
Pre-cat O2 sensors
IAT sensor
Fuel filter
Plugged one vacuum line
I still have the crank position sensor to replace, but I don't think that's it. And I have the intake manifold gaskets to replace, but have been so busy on my e46 M3 and my daughters 318i vert that this car just sits in the garage. Removing the intake manifold is pretty involved but I hope it reveals something. The cars driving condition is worsening. Finally, to recap, the supercharger is off the car. But I had the problem even when it was on the car so it's not related.

No actually. Never even crossed my mind. How could the VANOS cause this engine to run so shi**y like it is? If it's a possibility point me in the direction of what maintenance should be performed on it.

Have you scanned for codes? My case was different BUT I learned if the dme thinks vanos isn't working it will set the cam angle at 90 degrees or so and engine will suck a lot. Inpa is invaluable here to see what's going on as it shows you the values while engine is running.Originally posted by MOTRSPRTNo actually. Never even crossed my mind. Any issue where it clears up or runs better around 3-4k warrants looking at vanos. It advances around 4.2k but can affect the engine at all rpm because it controls the cam angle. It's a must do maintenance item.

Can't hurt to service and test vanos anyway. My car had had the seal done and the timing was slightly off so it ran a bit better afterwards.Originally posted by MOTRSPRTI'll try pulling codes again today. Maybe something has changed because it's running worse than when I started this thread.

Also, injectors? Bad injector could maybe cause O2 sensor error. Also the other error looks like idle air valve, you said cleaning it didn't help, maybe it's fried.

I didn't see this last post until now...
But I started in removing the intake manifold to replace the gaskets and all vacuum lines anyway. I found this:

That o-ring is tore, but I didn't have any fuel leaks. Might be a good time to remove these injectors and get them flow tested and balanced/repaired.
Also while I'm mentioning my intake manifold can anyone identify this cable? It's electrical, and not a vacuum line.

I think the only way to remove it is to remove it from intake manifold. Looks like I gotta remove the black box from underneath the manifold?
Im hoping that doing this maintenance addresses my issue or at least helps...
