If your skilled with tweezers you can drill a couple small holes at the back of the latch portion and the spot where they meet, where the little arm on the light extends throught the hole, and install two small zipties to hold the two pieces together. They are not visible once its all together, no ugly screw heads. Plus it puts the load from the door catch where it should be and taking the strain off the little tabs.

Doesn't sound too bad. Trying to visualize this, but wouldn't this taking the 2 pieces apart, that you'd have to cut the ties every time?

There's no need to drill any holes. Mine was sagging too and after reading this thread i removed the glove box and saw that the bottom tabs from the vents were not latching on the glove box. It took a little effort to make them latch cause they were bend but after i got em in and reinstall the glove box, it now shuts tight with no sagging at all.

Yes, but you dont have to separate the vents from the glovebox to remove the glovebox. It should come out as one unit. Doing so is why most people have the little clips that are bent or broken. I will pull mine out and get some pics of it.

Glad you pointed this out. The reason I did mine was because the PO had tried to remove the vents or the glovebox as two separate pieces and broke both tabs off.

Lol, I know. These are my exact words in my first post, and what I always tell.

I didn't mean for removal of the glovebox.

Here's where I put the zip ties. It was actually just a test. I will be replacing them with black ones, even though they cant be seen. I really think there should have been an attachment point in here from the factory maybe with a screw or something.

I want to thank you all for this thread, and I want to beat myself up for not doing this YEARS ago!

I will also say that this was closed without any screws in, so when I added the screws, there was a slight gap.....should i screw in any particular order or which ones should i do first?

Also, swapping over the lock. I have the lock out and almost lost all the inserts/springs, but luckily I didn't. So, how do I install the lock? I noticed that the little tabs all have numbers. How do I know which way to install it for my key? Any tips is appreciated and thanks again!

There are not that many. Just try each slot with each tumbler removing the known one when the key turns. Very easy.

I bought a glove box a few years ago and never used it, didn't realize it was different until I got it home and looked at it closer. It is the one on the left, I had to pull my glove box the other day and thought I would take a side by side pic. Anyone recognize the left one? I'm thinking it came out of a early E36 but I've never seen another one like it.

This has been the most informative glove box sag thread, to date! Came in expecting chaos, left with something learnt. A rarity around these parts
