My 98 Dakar Yellow "build" thread

    Hello folks,

    I've purchased this mint e36 m3 from a member here (@romango3 I believe)

    Car has currently 97k milles.

Here are the following mods that the car had when purchased :

    Max velocity front lip

    Euro headlights

    Fog deletes

    Mtech 2 steering wheel

    Akg rear camber arms

    Stud conversion

    Abrahams LTW wing

    Fortune 500 coilovers

AA track pipe, secation A and B

    Stromung exhaust

    Uuc evo 3 short shifter

    Akg dssr

    Zhp shift knob

    Mods done 2016 :

Full cooling system overhaul, aluminium rad, stewart water pump, silicone hoses and mishimoto expension tank.

    Light water pump pulley

    Electric fan conversion

    All belts changed

    Full oil change

    Full coolant flush

    Steering rack rebuild

    Alignment

    Mods for 2017

Both front wheel hubs : done

    Z3 steering rack

    Supersprint headers

    RK tune

    Weight savings

How car looked when purchased :

So far I've done the airbag simulator mod, basically putting a resistor to simulate that the airbag is still there.

And added some redline friction modifier to get rid of low speed noises in the diff.

Also purchased a glove box which I will replace because mine is sagging and I can't stand it.

For the rest, car will stay mostly as it is expect from new wheels.

    How car looks presently :

    Wheels are fine.

Don't need a new glovebox to fix sagging. It's not the box.

    Nice car.

      Nice car.

I don't dislike the wheels, but they are a pain in the ass to clean.

What would fix the glove box ? I saw people fixing it with screws but didn't work on mine. I bought the whole glove box with the airbag. Will see if it's better.

Loved Roman's car. Take good care of it.

If you crank the coils up 3/4 of an inch or so I bet you will like it even more, and save yourself some stress.

definitely needs a slight raise and a spacer in the front. looks like a good pick though!

Car will be raised during winter while sleeping in the garage. I'll also shop for another set of wheels. They ones the owner had before really go well with the car :

                          Small updates here and there;

                          Replaced hood strut :

Got 2 glove boxes they all sag, abandoned that project.

Driver side door card, almost impossible to find a super clean one. Drove 100km to find out that what the seller described as prestine condition actually had a crack in it.

Got a set of square K1's

                          Storage time is very soon.

For summer 2017 here are my upgrades:

Front and rear strut tower reinforcements

                          Front and rear strut bars

                          Raise the car a bit

Aluminium rad with electric fan conversion

                          Aluminum expension tank

                          Water pump

                          Water pump pulley

                          Delete the clutch fan

And that is about it for next summer.

                          Maybe some other wheel setup.

Looks good. I like the K1 on Dakar.

As M Parallel said, it's not the glove box, it's improper installation. You are doing it wrong and wood screws are NOT the fix.

                              I love Dakar.

Very cool looking car, although it is just a bit too low for my tastes. Glad to hear you're raising it up in the winter.
