the only reason we keep up to 60 is the torque factor..

150 last spring brake coming back from Daytona to Jacksonville with my wife in the car. It was in the middle of the night and felt great, no cars around only you and the dark:-)
Recently went 160 in the middle of the day on 9A Jacksonville, and sow a cup moments after I slowed down (that was a close one) The car felt rock solid, and I think there was some more power left... I checked my speedometer with the computer and it was off 1 mpr at 100. So I guess 160 was about time for the limiter to kick in.

Well since I have yet to pick up my M3 I can't share any of those stories yet, but since the thread doesn't seem to be limited to M3's......I had my 98 Honda Prelude up to 140 on I-96W in Detroit late one night. It is weird to hear the VTEC kick in and grind so slowly in 5th gear. I felt like it had a little bit left but my exit came up so quickly that I had to slow down.
If your in law enforcement in Michigan this story is purely fictional and I have since moved far far away.

I am still limited by the speed limiter in my M3, but I test rode a Triumph 955 Daytona last summer and the speedo read 157mph. I can't even imagine what the ticket would have been for that one.
I always feel good when I can hit 100mph at least once a day. That's not happening with both toys stored for the winter. Oh well, Spring is coming.

I have only been to 155 indicated in my old '98 Z28. I have only been to 140 in the T/A, but the stock limiter (162) has been removed, and on paper it has enough power to pull 177. I am not sure I will ever do that, definately not on the street. It is one thing to put your own a$$ in danger, but it is quite another to endanger the innocent public.

About two weeks after I picked up my M3 I decided to do a top speed run. During my lunch hour, I took Hwy. 401, and headed east away from Toronto. I got it up to an indicated 250 kph (155 mph) before closing on a gaggle of slower traffic. The adrenaline rush was amazing. I’ve never tried that again but I am generally able to hit 180 kph (110 mph) a few times a week heading home from the office.

I live in the Bay Area, and it's hard to get going fast with all the traffic. There was one night I was traveling north from San Francisco about 3 am, and ran with an M5 up to 140 before my radar detector went off. I slowed to 70 (Faster than I would have thought possible) smiling as I passed the would be arrester.
