I'm not sure you can get 18's and 8.5 on the front, it'll rub when you steer.
And I'm sure you can get 18's and 8.5on the rear, not dropped. My friend has some and they rub when he goes over a speed bump. But perfectly fine. 18x9.5 seems too wide.
Kinda ticks me off too; also I remember reading one of the posts....upsizing to 18's on an M3, will that degrade the handling? Something about E36 M3's are optimized for 17" rims.

i have no idea.. i thought it would help the handling.. if it decreases performance.. then screw that.. well.. im down to looking at the OZ Racing F1 Cup wheels.. 8f, 9r... now i guess it all depends what i can get underneath there.. i like the way they look with that dark dark painted wheel.. and its very simple.. i would really liike to put bigger wheels in there just for more grip.. cause i know u can never have too much in a sports car.. anyone know about the size 17 being needed for M's.. or being "optimized" for M's.. would 8 inch fronts rub??

Dude, I didn't ask.
However I did work with a guy who claimed he spent $5K on Enkei rims and Toyo tires for his Honda Accord. He rationale was: "Cause the ladies is down with it". I told him he should be beaten to death with his own shoes for being so stupid.
To mock him further I picked up the phone in his own cubicle and called INS to see if we could deport him to Haiti or Yemen for being a dumba$$....
