I got mine from ImportVision.com. They are made by DEPO, and have gorgeous blue Angel Eyes along with Day time running lights..

The angel eyes arent very bright, and you cant see them if it's sunny outside.. At dawn/dusk/night you can see them.. they are good looking!!

The DEPO's have the ellipsoid housing also.. I paid $250 for them, shipped.. There are no light boxes, the installation took me 30 minutes for both lights. It was a snap!!!

I paid 1/4 the cost and got a product that looks fantastic.. I honestly don't see the point in paying over $600.. I'll take some pics asap..

the umnitza product is good -- but its not truly plug and play -- matt did this on purpose so you have an option of how to trigger the dde's

I went the the zkw enhanced package -- for 599 -- what you get it two COMPLETE headlights wired up with the dde's, a wiring harness, and a pnp for you existing headlights. the wiring harnes is for the dde's and you simply run it to your battery terminal and each headlight -- its very easy to do -- then you have one trigger wire that you hook to a 12v source -- matt suggests the fog lights or the parking lights. I used the parking light option -- its very easy to do -- however i'm going to switch it to a 12v hot source when the key is on -- so i can have them on and not have my parking lights on.

I just did mine two weeks ago- they turned out awesome! -- feel free to ask me any questions -- i'll help as best i can!!

Have you seen the two kits side by side and I know you recommend yours but do they look like the same quality??

I want these but don't want to spend $600, for now anyway, but I don't want to buy something that looks cheap!!!

                Vixen:

I feel for you, headlights get real confusing real fast. Really unfair that US got plastic and Euro got glass.

A number of posters on this board have the ZKW's, and speak highly of them. So it may be worth it to hold off and save some extra $$ and get those.

But maybe you've already pulled the trigger. If so, please post after install and let us know how it went.

BTW, when you start talking HID conversion you're talking major league $$, and I think they were made illegal in the US. Anyone on the board know the score on that?

part of me likes the fact that the headlights are yellowing and plastic...

the part of me that keeps thinking about those damn glass fogs : )

we offer both the less expensive variety in the neighborhood of $350 for DIY - and $449 for complete (as Pantera accurately pointed out) 90% Plug and Play.

                    Those are the same DEPO.

Contrary to what you will read, there is a huge difference between the two brands, even though we sell both.

There is a reason that BMW (and me personally) chose ZKW over DEPO as the replacement light of choice in all BMW E36s.

I recently replaced my DDEs with some funky red ones for fun. I had the choice to get DEPO on the car or ZKW. Makes no difference right? NOPE. I chose ZKW. And will again in 3 weeks when I redo it with my "secret sauce" DDE.

A.vixen, you will not be disappointed with the Enhanced look, VERY OEM.

As in everything BMW, you generally (especially in this case) get what you pay for.

Anyone claiming that the DEPO is the same, doesn't have quality in mind, they have price. That's not a bad thing. Either way, we'll help you make the right decision to fit your style of buying.

I have indeed seen the ZKW and the DEPO side by side. There is a slight difference in look, but it's very hard to pinpoint. Personally, I like the way the DEPO looks a little more..

As for quality, I have absolutely no complaints about the DEPO brand. They're glass.. the PnP is true PNP, and they look fantastic..

They've got them on Ebay for $250.. Importvision.com sells them for $250..

You can pay $600, or you can pay $250..

Buy a Dinan CAI with the extra $400 you'll be saving..

right, you're right. I mean, we only buy both brands, take both brands apart, examine them, work with them, support them, and yes, even sell them...but what do we know

The average person won't see 90% of the differences.

But you know what's funny, on a dark road, with your H1s from the DEPO and H1s from the ZKW, you'll be able to see better with the ZKWs.

And deer are a lot more expensive than $400.

Finally, and this is the most important post here. DEPO is easier for us to acquire than ZKWs, we have no business reason to support ZKWs. NONE. In fact, my partners have even recommended that we STOP carrying ZKWs. But I wont' do it. Quality wins out in the end.

its kinda like that ***** that was converted to look like an M3 -- sure looked good -- but inside it was still a **** box.

i think you get what you pay for -- in my mind quality always wins -- if i can't afford quality -- i'll wait till i can

                              just my 2 cents

I totally agree, and Im buying the ZKW's with Enhanced DDE's form Matt sometime next week. Just like with everything BMW related, it costs a little bit more for the good stuff but its worth it. Why put a $200 "alternative" on your fine german automobile when for $400 you can have the real deal:thumbsup:
