i have a 97 M3 2 dr with 68,000 k that i recently purchased and the car slightly "shakes" when i lay down the pedal more than i should....this especially happens in 2nd gear. the car idles fine and seems to function fine when i drive it "less spirited." I dont have much experience driving M3's, is this slight trembling normal and due to all the horsepower, is it possibly the engine mount, or are there more serious possiblities? or am i just being paranoid!?

Your car should be very smooth at any speed, at any jolt of the pedal. The only thing I can think of is that you've got some wheel hop going on. Usually thats only in first gear. Check your tire pressure. It should be very smooth in 2nd... just jolting you to the back of your seat. I suggest you take it into bmw, or to the dealer you got it from and get it checked up.

Also, turn off ASC. The jolting your talking about could be the traction control coming on trying to keep you on the road. Is it possible your in an area where the roads aren't flat or clean and gravel is just sending your tires spining and traction control pauses your engine, then lets it fly free?
