If I had a 318TI w/ the ///M Package and dropped a Euro e36 M3 motor in it, would it be.. wrong to put an ///M logo in place of the 318ti?

I think owning a 318ti in the first place is blasphmous. They are hideous, but I guess you can make them fast.......
Still, I wouldn't buy one.
To be honest, our M's aren't much more than body kits and a better engine with some cute badges on the inside...and I suppose higher quality leather, but non M's still shouldn't put the badges on there.
It's just lame.

I highly concur. The car is what it is from how the factory makes it. Once it rolls out the factory as certified, pre-inspected numerous times, and sold under the M title. It is genuinely eligible for an M. Not because you mod'ed it and put Badges on it. Just because you drive a impala with top mounted red/blue flashing lights, have cop decals, carry a gun and hand cuffs and wear a badge makes you a cop? Dumb.

Hmm..its a touchy subject in my opinion. but my dad did it with his 328IS. He's done quite a bit with his car already though.. Koni adjustable shocks, H&R Race springs, full M3 kit with Euro Spec wing, Jim conforti CAI and Shark Injector, Exhaust and some 18" rims with brembo 4-piston calipers (gran turismo brake kit)
He didn't put the M3 Logo on, he put the M badge on....and I think he deserves it, with all he's done. I'll put some pictures up after we finish installing the brembos!

No matter how many mods, or whatever else you do, a 318ti will never be an M. That also goes for any other 3-series out there. True Ms are made in Germany with different suspensions and chassis and engine. If you are willing to put that amount of mods into a basic three to begin with, just buy an older and true M and don't act like a wanna-be. There is nothing more pathetic than a fake.
