    48 pounds ligher!!!!

Well today I got done with some Mock thingy from school early so I went home and started to pull out my Spare, and the 6 disc cd changer from the back.

And I found out the Spare (Conture) with a S-02 Tire on it is 42 pounds, and the changer is 6 pounds.

So now I'm at 3152 pounds and still losing weight.

Next is my back seats or maybe something that doesn't cost me money.

OH also I put in a new front black BMW plate holder so theres no holes, but only prob is it isn't curved so I have to bend it to make it have a nice fit.

Keen to lose as much as you can eh? Isn't the back seat just a little too much of a sacrifice? Even if it's never used, it looks good...

Do you have fold down rear seats? If so take the seat backs out, they are very heavy. The bottom weighs nothing. The front seats and battery are the next biggest offenders, you can save tons of weight by replacing them.

Actually, I understand if you take out the front seats and bolt in an aluminum lawn chair, and rip the doors off and replace tham with clear plastic and duct tape you can save a ton of weight.

Personally I love teh M3 because it is practicle and has awsome performance! I like the idea of being able to put 4 people in my car when we go out, but thats just me. I understand everyone has different needs.

For the track/auto-x this is great, but for everyday use?

I wouldn't notice 100lbs missing because I don't drive it hard enough on the streets to tell.

I would certainly notice a flat tire though, so I'd keep the spare man.

All the E46 guys complain non-stop about the lack of a spare.

It just isn't worth the marginal increase in speed unless you're at the track.

Well i got this car for 2 things. 1 is taking it to the track and get into the racing biz, 2nd to have fun with driving it daily, with maybe 1 or 2 extra people. I don't find my self having a M3 full of people.

And for the spare part, I can call people to tow me so i'm fine. or call my dad and he brings the spare. its all good!

And If you haven't seen how big I am in my car. The seat is back all the way with it tilted almost all the way down. So I really don't need the seat right behind me. and if I care about the look I will just make a cloth thingy to cover it up.

Did you remove all the plastic engine covers? How about the tools in the trunk? Floor mats, Fog lights? You could also only fill the tank 1/2 way all the time and save yourself some weight there, But how extreme do you want to go? You got your headliner, interior lights, the list could go on

Anyone have an good idea of how much weight the hood and trunk are. Trying to figure out how much lighter a CF hood and trunk would be.

I would like to get to 200 pounds off the factory weight, but as everything it cost money.

im guessing with the hood u can save 30-40.. just a guess.. with an exhaust around 25.. trunk i don't know.. maybe 15 to 25... then the spare.. around 40-45.. thats alot of savings right htere

as for the replacement for the spare.. throw a can of fix a flat in tthere.. thats what im going to do..

This may be getting of topic, if so sorry.

My plan for 200 pounds is. Replacing brakes with euro rotors about 4#'s each. Lighter black wheels about 3-4#s each. Exhuast about 25#s.

Pull spare (only for autocross track days) about 45#s

Thats 102 I think add hood and trunk. Which from a friend who pre-fabs parts for plans with CF said the hood should be about 50#s and the trunk maybe 35#s. Thats pretty close would like real numbers for hood and trunk.

The plus is the weight off the wheels has other benifits as well as the truck and hood they are top weight.

Does anyone make good light weight car battery. I have a LW one in my bike only 3#s.

Bump up horse power some, lower weight some. I can have my own E36 M3 CSL

Well i plan to pick up the Fix a Flat some day. and If you haven't seen this site check it out. They sell trunk lids, hoods, and different parts for our cars that are only like 5 to 7 pounds.
