problem is no self respecting bmw owner would go anywhere near a car show with an american motor in there. im looking for something that would make jaws drop at the show. im pretty sure a bevarian v8 would do the job...

        Wingnut,

Wanna bet? You don't think that an modded LS1 would make jaws drop? To date this conversion is far more rare than an e36 V8.

These BMW V8 conversions cost betweem 20 and 40K (go to Hartage's site or do a search on Bimmerforums). I'll take the money I save versus a BMW v8 swap and buy another e36 M3!

BTW: No lack of self respect here....

why not buy the eurosport twin screw and have the hp and torque of an M5 for 7k plus install time or $.

I think sfoster on this board had planned to do an m5 swap into his e36 m3. I dont know if he ever did or if it was him for sure.

I think its been done already. Hamman did the v-12 in the E46 already also.

              no doubts its been done.

I will have to check up on the actual swap, precedure wise, time and money. I wouldn't mind having a LS1/6 engine in my car no doubt, but I would rather drop it into a different car.

As for the twin screw, definately the way to go if 350 hp is where you wanna end up. But if you want N/A with already more than that plus with major capabilities, gotta go with a bigger engine.

My personal preference would be the twin screw versus a V8 anyway....
