Let me clear this up, for those that speak slang and such...read the first post...if not then read this.

I have been in my friend's 360 with Tubi and test pipes, at idle you can't hear the person sitting next to you, you have to shout to talk and at redline forget about it; at that point you can't even hear yourself think. It sounds great and puts fear in everyone around you. My M3 sounds nothing like stock, it's much more aggressive with my mods (see list) but it's still not as loud as many Ferrari's I have been in.

This is more curiosity than anything.

    You're welcome.

      Oh very nice.

I have to agree - I love my loud exhaust. In fact, I couldn't conceive of my car without it. There are few things I enjoy more than blasting up next to a Jersey barrier in the summer with the windows down, and hearing the Tri-Flo howl.

It's also funny that you mention Tubi, Blackspeed. A few years ago I desperately searched for the The exhaust that they make for the E36 M3, only to be told it was a Euro-only application. Heart breaking, really.

Mmmmm, I can only dream of what you can hear. Sometimes when your M3 is a daily driver, having such a "obnoxious" exhaust can be....obnoxious? UUC for example, some may like the sound and some may tell you that it's a bit loud when driving. I guess if you want more performance then you're going to have to give up the peacefulness.

Listening to Ferrari engines and their exhaust systems may get you hyped because they sound great. Lets be reasonable and compare cars that fall in their class. It's obvious that your M3 or whoever's M3 doesn't sound like a Ferrari, who expects it to anyways?

ACTUALLY there is a way to "switch on" a badass sounding exhaust...

Offshore racing boats use electronic solenoid butterfly valves to switch from thru-hull to LOUD AS HELL

This can easily be done on a car

I think the best answer for you, Blackspeed, is that it depends on your lifestyle.

There are many like me that would love to not get bopped by police by staying as stock on the outside as possible. It's pretty apparent that driving M3s automatically gets us all in more trouble than driving a civic. If i had a Ferrari F355, i'm not even gonna worry about causing attention to myself because when i do drive it, it'll be generating all the attention from cops that I can imagine. The reason i say this is because some very unlucky people i know have gotten exhibition of speed tickets, just for boning out at high-rpm. The cop may end up assuming that your exhaust could have been all those other f-&*ers that were boning out in the block RIGHT BEFORE you were rolled on!!

I don't know... call me a B$tch, but i like being stealth most of the time. And as for the power increase of exhausts... my friend Jon has always told me that improving driving style or even just going to a track and w/ a lap timer is the best mod. LIKE I SAID, THO...ferrari's are different. No way are you gonna be stealth in a ferrari, maybe at a ferrari meet. Whatever exhaust would make the ferarri jizz in my pants would do just fine. My m3 sedan will be chillen on the stock exhaust.

the look of a car doesn't get people in trouble with the cops.. its what they do.. i had a cop sitting right next to me and i own a system U.. no problems.. i was being sensable though.. not rearing it out.. so basically if u don't give them something to pull u over for, they can't do it.. as far as being stealth.. not possible.. even it i did have the stock lights etc.. IM IN A PURPLE M3.. u can see the car from a mile away.. if it were black or something of a standard color it would be easier to do..

so back to the exhaust.. mines loud.. i like it.. cops look for a second but then look away.. in the car it doesn't bother me because there is SOOOOOO much noise deadening material in the car.. on top of that a great stereo.. so no worries.. get what u think is best and go from there.. im open for rides.. hehe

Correct me if i'm wrong, but don't OBD II M3s constantly display a CEL or Check Control light when an aftermarket exhaust is installed? Blackspeed, I'd just say stay away from REMUS. My two cents.

Oh yeah, I meant to refer Stromung exhausts. Blackspeed, I hear they're well-built and sound sweet. Check it out @ understeer.com
