I've heard that most people have problems at 60k, others earlier - and in some nutso cases, they are still running the plastic one at 100k!!

the 'when does it fail' doesn't really matter... do it immediately. I would recommend getting the new pump, the fan delete kit and aluminum thermostat housing from understeer.com, and doing all 3 at the same time. First thing - b4 any performance mods : ) All of it will run you less than $200 - check the 'parts store' under 'engine parts'.

I purchased a pair of Rhino Ramps from Kragan on the advice of roadfly.org members, no clearance issues on a stock 1995 M3

Before the rhino ramps I had a ghetto way of jacking my car up - I used to drive the car up the side of the ramp into my driveway, this would give me enough room to stick a floor jack underneath, then I would put an adjustable jackstand on the side off the ground, leaving the other wheel on the sidewalk.

I think the exact model of Rhino ramp is 3000, this is the most-common ramp available. They also tend go on sale in the Sunday Kragan ads for ~$19.99

I have a neighbor down the street (who doesn't like me) with a full-size hydraulic lift in his garage, he restores MG's & I can only guess at what he thinks of my methods at getting my bimmer(s) off the ground

My car is finally back together. I was going to go with a tapped thermostat housing and add another gauge inside, but i didnt feel like doing that much work.

The car also got an oil change yesterday. Running great now.

I didnt know i spilled that much coolant when i was taking it apart.....
