Anyone on the board ever do? I'll have to do it this week.
STORY -- I've been saving this until I get the car back, should happen Wednesday. My car was stolen early February, a-holes broke into my old car, found second set of key and remote, then drove off with my M3. :banghead:
Incredibly, I get her back a few days later, relatively minor damage, grill bashed in, hood bent, NOTHING else!!! Interior untouched, nothing. Could not believe I had her back, almost broke down at the impound lot where the police had her towed. Sure you guys understand... NO WAY I'm finding another 99 with such low miles and in pristine condition. And plus I had just replaced her, see the Hurricane Isabel thread.
Anyway, Statefarm takes forever to investigate, blah blah, but finally done. I'm getting a new hood -- no swirls or road marks!! -- a new spoiler with the slat middle rather than mesh, and while in there I'm having the Hellas put in for the OEM.
Anyway, there is possibility crooks still have my remote and key. The key can be de-programmed, pretty cool huh? My remaining three keys will now be the only keys that start the car. But that still leaves the remote.
I've got book and an incredibly intricate procedure is described, wondering if anyone out there has ever done. And if so, how many times do I have to do it to ensure that the stolen remote doesn't work? Fine print says system can recognize 4 codes, so do I have to re-prog 5 times??
Edgy
