    Update on the Transmission Saga

Well I was successful at getting the dealership to agree to replace my transmission under warranty. I did have to take out the UUC SSK to get them to do it but I guess that labor is worth a transmission. The other thing is that they are requiring me to replace the clutch, pressure plate, and throw-out bearing as well which is all well and good except I have to pay for those parts. No labor charges though so all in all I get a new transmission, brand new clutch, plate, and bearing for $50 plus the cost of the clutch pieces about $400.

BTW: Going from the UUC SSK to the stock shifter is HORRIBLE. I feel like I am driving a bread truck. As soon as I get everything replaced the UUC is going back in ASAP!!!

Congrats. That dealership probably hates you right now! Anyway, the car should be good to go when you get it back. What did you do to change their minds?

Nice man. I'm glad it all worked out for you. There are a lot of people who are out of warranty that are all jealous now I'm sure.

The main thing that I did was not take no for an answer. I printed out a lot of information on the issue from Bimmerforums, etc. and I had to get BMW NA involved. If it were not for a great guy with customer service, it would not have happened.

great to hear that everything worked out for you. I had my clutch replaced as well, but the dealer didn't make me take out the UUC, and they threw in a clutch for free...they really hate me right now. Congrats!

You never know what the dealer will do under warranty if you are lucky. On my M3 it had a funny sound so I brought it in(after warranty was up) and they ended up finding a problem with one of the cats and replaced the whole exhaust for free. Also my dad had a problem with his '98 Explorer Sport when it had 26K. The couldn't find why it was leaking oil so on the second time he brought it back they gave him an entirely new engine and labor for free.
