    Replacing Rotors: Euro Advice Required

    Hi guys,

My front rotors will need replacing soon and I'm considering my options. If you have an opinion to share I'd be keen to hear it.

Options that I've considered so far:

    Replace with Euro OEM rotors

Replace with aftermarket slotted (or drilled) rotors

Replace with Euro E46 OEM rotors (will they fit?) Edit: No.

    BBK upgrade (not likely $$$)

Any other options? What brands can you recommend (especially you Euro owners)?

Let's hear what you've got to say...

Nothing short of a bbk can beat the floaters.

What about these 'EBC Sport Rotors' (bottom of the page) (http://www.ebcbrakes.com/Automotive.html)?

I can get them for less than the OEM rotors.

I would never buy anything from EBC.

their brake pads are horrible for our cars, i wouldn't trust their rotors either. If you are looking for cheap replacement, get a pair of US spec rotors.

I'm not looking for "cheap replacements", I was wondering if these were better than the OEM ones and if not, why not.

One more vote for the euro floaters. I have 'em and love 'em. Not too pricey either. And besides looks, I don't think there's much point in drilled/sloted rotors UNLESS you're going to be putting some track time on your car.

Okay then, does anyone know of any two-piece or floating rotors that can be used in place of the OEM ones? The only ones I can find are part of a BBK.

                  TIA

Actually stock rotors US rotors or floaters are much better for tracking that cross-drilled/slotted.

Got my brakes and pads from bavarian autosport. They were reasonable and shipping was decent. I honestly couldn't tell you about their international shipping policies. I have the floating rotors and love them.

yeah, my understanding is that the only brake difference between euro and US cars are the rotors. a lot of track guys swear by the euro floaters. euro and US cars have the same options as far as slotted and cross drilled, and the general consensus is that they look good but don't perform as well as the euro floaters.

get the euro floaters, flush the brake fluid with some new high quality stuff (ate blue is a good choice), get some stainless steel lines, put in some good aftermarket pads (there are several choices out there- depends on how you drive the car), and your brakes should meet your needs for almost all situations.

pacific bmw will probably have the cheapest price on them. As for pads, i'd go Axxis ultimates or Hawk HPS. Axxis having better initial bite while the Hawk's have less dust than the axxis.

Why would you want 2 pc. rears?
