How often do you guys replace your tires?

Is it normal that you would replace the rear more often than the front since they are rear wheel drive? Also, is it correct that the rear tires are a half inch wider than the front? If so we wouldn't need to rotate them right?

you can't rotate your tires because of the different sizes. And I mostly replace them when I find they go on me. Like one did today.

Yes I believe that the rears do wear faster. Yes, on my M with Contours, the back tires are 245's and the fronts are 225's. And yes that means you can't rotate front to back. Also if you have directional tires then you can't rotate side to side.

Well, you CAN... you just have to have them remounted inside to outside and vice versa.

...and why would you ever pay to get that done every 5-10K? You might as well just not do it and buy new tires a little(few thousand miles) earlier with the money you saved.

Most of the tires you can't rotate. The rears prob get worn faster than the front due to power beign applied to the back. Also, alot of preformace tires are directionals, so, even with same size all around, like I run, you can't really rotate them unless you dismount them. You'll be lucky to get 25k+ miles from a set of preformace tires though.

10-12k miles on rears, +15K on fronts.

Got 13,100 on the rears last time - fronts will probably need to be replaced every other time you do the rears.

Are there brands that you guys prefer to use? Is is worth it to spend double to get a higher quality tire?

I get about 10k on rears. Last rears that I got though only lasted me 3k. (1 month and a half). And I didn;t even burn tire or drive it too hard. The brand was Kumho. I think it was just that specific model though. I've had other Kumho's, and they lasted me 10k. I got them really cheap.

The fronts last me forever. I usually replace those every 30k.

I'm not paying for the SO3's again - too much money to go through them every year or less. I'm going to try something cheaper so I dont feel so bad when I break it loose or light it up for some show.

Thats me too...i would rather have something cheaper that I don't care to light up every once in a while.

I just got 2 Yokohama Avs Es100. Have any of you used them before? They only cost me $120 / piece. Yesterday it rained down here, and they seemed to have really good grip.

What are the cheapest and best tires that you can get for an M3?
