might be lots of small nicks from stones... stone guard is nice, and cheaper than new one's... put it on, when it get's dinged up too much, replace it instead of the lights : )
it's not that i was trying to be a ****, it's that the fog light breaking threads are all over the place and people always ask where to buy new ones cheaper than from dealer.. just got to me this time.. i mean stone guard is really popular, why not use it instead of buying more and more foglights after they bust.. and who cares about the light output, it sucks anyhow..
I wish I could use stonguard...but I have lamin-x over mine for my HID's. I guess I could do both though..hmmmm....lamin-x isn't nearly as thick as stonguard, so it probably only protects against really small stones.
Asking a followup, since the original question was well answered:
Astan -- I thought Lamin-X and Stonguard were roughly the same. My fog covers are 40MM thick, pretty damn strong looking. How thick is Ston? And I'm looking for smoke colored lens protection on my Hellas, only find it on BavAuto.
Any other outlets, opinions? (I started a thread on this, no takers yet).
Are they the same...I dunno. Lamin-x seemed fairly thin to me. Is foglight stoneguard anywhere CLOSE to the thickness of headlight stonguard because that is retarded thick. That'll stop a moose from damaging the lights.
Lamin-x is as thick as say......a thinner plastic cup (just using what is next to me). Picture sticking like 6 pieces of paper together...that's lamin-x.
there is a way to pop them out with a flat head scredriver from the outside, but there is a chance of scratching your paint on the bumper. there is another way of poping out your brake duct and going from the side, you find this little lever looking thing and press on that, or going from the top of under the hood, but you aren't going to be able to do that way on the intake side, only on opposite.. also sorry about being an ass earlier, didn't mean it in a mean way or anything..
Yeah, taking the things out is seriously trial and error. Get a screw driver and poke around in the upper part of the brake duct along the foglight side until the light pops out. You just have to do it til it works. Good luck.
What bulbs do you gusy recommed. I've read on this forum that BMW doesn;t like different wattages. They'll blow quickly. From personal experience, what else can you get that brighter, better and lasts long (No blue stuff though). Does Sylvania make fog light bulbs? I've concluded from this forum in past threads that Sylvania or Osram are the best.
