you mean u got a 98 m3 with no obc that has 18 but only 11. Why would that be? I thought all m3 had 18 buttons.

I've only been using 3 out of the 18; Consum, Temp, Range. the other buttons are all "fresh" and new-like. :-) maybe I should read the manual...

Hmmm...the 11 button doesn't really have many useful buttons.

I doubt that I would spend the extra cash to have my computer badly calculate gas mileage though.

The range key is nice, and the code button is perfect for keeping friends from driving your car if they steal your keys- though a real thief could just disconnect the battery and wait a little bit.

Overall, I doubt it is worth it to upgrade to the 18 button.

I find the range key quite useful and pretty accurate. I won't get gas until its reading under 15 miles :P

And I have had it down to --- before... (vapors)

I agree! Range is probably the most useful button.

question... since the 11 button OBC doesnt have the function CODE, if you wire in the new 18 button OBC,and lets say you code the car, and if the car is 'coded' couldnt you just take out the OBC, or maby unplug it, then re-plug it, would that make it 'forget' about the code?... sorry kinda off topic, but i just thought of it

The code is part of the EWS system I believe, and thats probably where its saved.

My previous bmw's have had it including my first m3. I miss only the range button on road trips. My second m3 has the eleven button but also had heated seats, fold down seats, h/k, and cruise control which the other did not. I guess you can't have everything.
