Well, this kinda sucks. I was being stupid and flying around the backroads in my area with a friend in his GTi. There is this set of S-turns I know about and I decided to see what the M could do with them, bad move. I didn't realize how fast i was going and took the first S turn just fine, but in the second one I lost it, going through i hit the gas while at the top end of 3rd gear. It sent the back end out (traction off, shitty low tread tires) and i tried to correct but couldnt and sent the car sideways, then into a 360...and slid backwards right off the road. I got really luck and missed everything, including a sign 3" away from where I ended up. I felt so stupid after I did it, I wasnt thinking and could have been killed or even worst, hurt someone else. Nothing happened to the M at all, not even a knick, so I taught myself a lesson last night. Damn, Im stupid :chair:

That was a close call. I was going on an on ramp in the rain about a week ago really fast and started to lose the rear end at about 70 MPH. It can be a very scary feeling but you learn from them. You may want to make sure the rear control arms are not bent as they are designed to take the pressure when something like that happens. If your alignment is messed up, have them looked at too. Slow down a bit next time, we don't want to see anything happen to that pretty white M3.

Had a close one in my new e36 M3, after dropping my girlfriend off to Uni I drove into a deserted McDonalds to do a U-turn put the power down to make a quick Exit as there was no traffic, and wayhey, 360 baby! Lucky the car park was empty. It was raining to.
2 mins later I got onto the motorway (im in the UK) floored it and spun the back wheels up even after a rolling start.
Fooking awsome cars, just need to be very very very very very careful, especially in the wet.

Kid,
I think it has to do with buying your car from DoneDirect because I almost toasted my M within 2 weeks of buying it, too!!
How, you ask. Well, I'll tell you (even if you don't care to hear). Much like Kid, I was on a back road. The road was wet, but it wasn't raining. There was an almost 90 degree turn to the right. I applied a little too much right foot (why, I, like Kid, HAVE NO IDEA!!!) and was heading straight for the ditch. ASC+T was on and I honestly think it helped. I corrected, put the clutch in and when the tires slipped off the road and caught mud it sent me shooting back on the road. Thank God there was no one coming the other direction as I came to a stop straddling both lanes. Didn't go far enough into the ditch to do any damage...barely got any mud on the car. Scared the hell out of me, though!!! :eek2:
Taught me to respect the rear wheeled beasts we drive...ESPECIALLY on wet tarmac!!
My "almost bit it" story,
FLi
