Do Laser Guns Work W/O Front Plate

My local cops are just beginning to use laser. Has anyone gotten nailed with laser that doesn't have a front license plate? I was told that cops aim for your plate. If I don't have a plate, do I need the passport laser shifter to go with the 8500?

Its more effective to use hte front plate due to its high reflective properties. It'll still work though. Unless you're driving the stealth bomber...

They can still get you with laser without a front plate, but I've heard that front plates just make it easier for them to get you because they're so reflective??? Dunno.



I wouldn't trust in the fact that you don't have a front plate to save you from laser.

Exactly. They just use the front plate as an aiming point. In a case where the car doesn't have a front plate, they will simply aim somewhere else.

I've been considering some kind of laser jammer actually. In Jersey, if I get a ticket, my insurance will go up something ridiculous like 30% a year I think. It's just nuts over there. Most of the Jersey cops I saw though use freakin' X band still, so you can detect them from a mile away.



I'm most concerned about instant on radar in general though because NOTHING protects you from that if you're the only guy on the road.

Lol. We can't jam, or detect here in VA legally. Its retarded. They have no room for fun here. Although, if its nighttime, you can see the laser from the cop car if you look hard enough! :P

One of the car mags did a test a few years back (maybe 10) when laser was first coming out. The took 2 mercury cougars 1 black 1 white. the black could get closer to the gun b4 a reading was registered. then they took off the front plate and it got closer yet. Then they taped up the head lights and the chrome stripe on the bumper so that there was nothing but black on the front of the car. I forget the actual #s but the black car could get 3 or 4 times closer to the gun with out being seen. A flat black car with fold down head lights and no plate was deemed to be the best for laser invisibility.

On a side note I was once shot in the face by a cop and his laser gun. pretty trippy red flashes. I could see it scaring some one into crashing. :dance:

i can speak from experience on this one...just got pulled over with laser...he hit me from about 1400 feet away (says on the ticket) he probably heard me coming Laser is very accurate and very hard to detect if no one else is on the road (your best chance of detecting it is catching some reflected rays when they clock people in front of you). My passport 8500 went crazy but it was too late...im just thankful that i didnt get pulled over 10 minutes earlier when i was racing a friend in a juiced up camero at 130 mph.

I don't know about that brand, but the escort SRX laser "shifter" (they really mean jammer) works incredibly well.



It is probably the best laser jammer on the market, and it isn't illegal to jam radar. Only radar.

Where would you install that - in the kidney grills? I've been thinking about getting a laser jammer alongside a V1 for a while now, but don't know if its worth it. I don't drive very fast anymore (the beauty of getting older I guess) but it would be fun for those days you just want to open the throttle!

LOL I think he means "It isn't illegal to jam LASER, but it is illegal to jam RADAR.



Laser is virtually undetectable unitl it's too late. I've only had my laser detector go off once. I was driving through Golden and fortunately I saw the cop car in the distance and slowed down just before my Laser detector went crazy. WHEW!
