Its the same thing you might hear when you turn the car off.. that quick hiss noise, some people hear it, some done. Its to equalize pressure in the crankcase.
I figure if it is truly a bearing, then it will only get worse. Still only does it intermittently though. Still think mine may be the alternator
Have you guys figured this problem out? I explained the whistling problem to the dealer and they also said it might be the pulleys and their bearings goin out. Just thought you guys might want to know.
Theres a few common whistles/squeeks on the front of our cars.
Most common:
Whine: Alternator underload.
Squeeking that 'pulsates': Probably a belt tensioner.
Squeeking/grinding noise that changes with engine speed: Probably a pulley on its way out.
If you can get the belts off, spin the idler pullies. If they feel tight and rotate around for only a few seconds or less, they are fine. Worn pullies will feel very loose and spin freely for awhile.
Me 2! Except mine is more like a tiny blow off valve! It only happens when Im power shifting....
do u have an aftermarket intake? when i get on mine directly after shifting and go at it the intake whistles nice and loud.. lol.. almost like a bov.. but at the wrong time i guess
